I'll be completely transparent & admit that I have no knowledge/experience with tires. With my CTR being the first performance vehicle I've owned, I'm a bit stuck on which tires I should fit her with.

After ~18K miles, my stock Continentals are practically 100% bald.

I'm looking for some advice here, as I live in North Carolina & the winters here are very mild (MAYBE an inch of snow on the ground for 1 week out of the year) so I don't think I'm interested in a set of winter tires.

Just looking for some recommendations on decent tires that won't break the bank, and are suitable for year-round use on the stock CTR rims.

Thanks!

I can't recall what the CTR comes with, but I have to believe it is a pretty sticky, aggressive tire, hence your quick wear rates. You can have a tire that grips, a tire that lasts, or a tire that is cheap, but you can't have all 3 ;) Also, define "break the bank".. you bought a $40K performance car.. I would expect to spend $1k for tires ($250/tire)

I daily my CTR, so I guess my definition of "break the bank" is a super max performance summer tire that I most likely won't use to it's full potential :(

Thanks for dropping the link - Taking a look now!

This seems to be a popular tire and the extra sidewall will help protect the factory rims better.

With the stock rims you have a few choices with Ultra High Performance All Season tires. I live in Ohio and had to replace mine. I'm keeping my stock rims for now and will eventually get another set for warmer weather. You will have to get a different size tire than the stock tire size. From my findings you can get a UHPAS tire in sizes 245/35/20 and 255/35/20. I went with 255/35 Michelin Pilot A/S 3+. I had them on my 350Z and my dad had them on his G35S. Great tire!

Some others I was looking at: BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S and Continental Extremecontact DWS 06. These two are definitely cheaper than the Michelins. But I after doing some research and talking to some people I was told the Michelins offered the best of both worlds from the BFGoodrich and Contis. I don't think you'll go wrong with and of these 3. There are other options on TireRack. But these 3 are the top 3 rated UHPAS tire on TireRack.

Here are some pics with the 255/35 with stock suspension...

Great deal on a great summer tire. However if this is your daily driver and you get any type of colder temperatures I would steer clear of summer tires. I would imagine they’re like the stock Contis.... once you hit temps of 40 and below your driving on hockey pucks.

Compound on these are not as soft as the conti’s but yeah I live in Cali I’ve driven these tires here in the winter in my past cars before where it was 30-40 degrees and it did perfectly fine. Never drove in snow tho

Good to know! When I get my “summer” set of wheels I will definitely consider these tires. Living in Ohio we see some pretty damn cold temps in winter.

I don't remember anymore how many sets I have purchased of Conti DWS all season tire (like 6 times?), more recently the Conti DWS 06, this later is the new version. The best all season tire money car buy & in top of that, the lightest. I'm sure Michelin A/S is good too, but bet. weight and price, nothing better than the Conti DWS 06.

I run 275/30/19 continnental dws06. I advise no grip on curves. If you are going to run on a straight line grip is not bad. If you install a catless downpipe kiss goodbye the grip. My 2 cents.

Ive ran both the Michelin PS a/s and the BFG comp-2 a/s and I can attest they grip the same, corner the same but the BFGs wear a tad better. Both great tires for sure and I’m an adamant Michelin fanboy but for a lot less money $$$ you can get the same tire. Made in the USA too, just like most Michelin’s.
