Just ordered a rear HB V-style lip/spoiler. I believe it came with some tape, but not sure how the quality be in terms of holding up the spoiler. Anyone have any experience on the strongest tape (not glue or bolts) for a lip/wing?

I was considering 3M if that is not what is included. However, is there a specific kind that would hold the lip/spoiler and to withstand rain or "drive-thru" car washes?

Don't use that Ikon Chinese crap. Use genuine 3M acrylic automotive tape. Like this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HSCMFVA/

I've done these projects many times. Prep is the key.

1. First wipe down the area with dish soap and rinse to remove dirt and wax. Dry thoroughly.

2. Test fit spoiler in place and tape off outline to make things easier when mounting. Put spoiler aside and affix tape to back.

3. Rub rear decklid area with alcohol wipes. Let dry.

4. Add a thin layer of adhesion promoter to the area you will be attaching the spoiler.

https://www.amazon.com/3M-Adhesion-Promoter-Sponge-Applicators/dp/B07MVK1PG6/

5. Heat up rear decklid and back of spoiler with hairdryer til warm.

6. Remove red backing off tape on spoiler and carefully line up spoiler on car. Then press into place for 4-5 minutes.

That might sound like overkill but remember, you don't want the spoiler flying off on the highway!

Great, thank you - will make a trip to walmart for the products you mentioned or just order on Amazon (depending on price)

I just installed my deck spoiler based on what was recommended in 50ish F temp. Hope it holds well, thank you for the 3M tape and adhesive promoter tip!

Thanks GTMan!

See that one end where you came up short with the tape? It should be fine but here's a tip for better edge to edge coverage:

When applying the tape have it go past the edge. Then trim off the excess with an X-acto knife following the shape of the spoiler (or any item you apply tape to).
