I figure I should buy the spare tire kit for my Si coupe before I eventually need one. I'm still bitter we didn't get a spare.

Anyone know the best place to order the kit?

I'm currently waiting on mine to arrive from the dealership that I purchased my Si from.
From what they've been telling me for the past few weeks, they are on back order.
That said, make sure you get the "kit" that comes with the jack, spare wheel/tire, the the foam pieces that surround the spare.
Those foam pieces will bring the bottom of the trunk floor up, so that your spare doesn't form a hump in the floor.
Good Luck with getting yours ... I'm feeling the same as you ... bitter that they excluded them from the Si.

As far as the spare itself, look for one at an auto-recycler. I got a spare wheel and tire off of a previous gen Si for $65. Won't fit over the front calipers, but you're not supposed to put a temporary spare on the front axle anyways.

Keep in mind if you have to use it, you'll have to rotate the spare to the rear because of the LSD.

I'm thinking of just riding with one of the stock wheels in my trunk. Groceries can go inside the cabin.

I had waited nearly three months with nothing to show for it. I was at the dealership to swap my summer for all seasons and chatted with the parts guy. Apparently, there are multiple kits with different part numbers. I was backordered waiting for the standard kit. The summer tire version was in stock. So I took that one. That's how the parts guy explained it anyway...I got one, which is all I cared about.

Prior to that, I had cobbled together a poor mans spare tire kit...an alloy spare/tire out of a newer Acura TL, a jack from 8th gen Civic and a pouch/ wrench and handle out of an early CRV. All for $60 from the local pick and pull.

My brother waited 2 months for his dealer to get it in and install it on his new Si. Think he said it was between $200-300. But definitely try eBay maybe

Think of the lack of a spare tire kit as a performance feature. A 40+ pound weight savings is nothing to sneeze at. :)

I drive a lot and I'm often very far from home. I'd rather be able to change my own tire than wait for and pay for a tow home.

When shopping for a Honda kit don't forget that the coupe and sedan take different part numbers.
