Guess not. I’ve watched some videos and read reviews and a lot of people liked them so far

That's where the market is headed. AMP/DSP in one. In my last car I used an old fashioned system: using an aftermarket HU, amp, and the JBL MS-8, which auto tunes using a mic, like the Kicker, and it was amazing how it improved the stereo focus and frequency response. Not nearly as compact a system as the Kicker, but is the Kicker as impressive at the auto tune? And will you be happy with 45W?

Also, the main problem seems to be getting a decent signal out of the HU. A DSP is going to try to correct the dips and peaks of the signal going out to the speakers with EQ, but it cannot correct the signal as it comes in; that's why people use an additional device just to fix those things - such as the JL FiX.

This may not help you, I'm not even sure what you are trying to accomplish other than making some audio improvements, but just wanted to cover some basics.
