Man, I got gypped haha. Honda sold me the 8 year HondaCare warranty for $2,000 and said it was 80,000 miles, not 120,000? They originally tried selling to me for $3,500 and I said no way. Then they dropped it to $2,000 for 8 years/80,000 miles with no deductible.

oops.

I just purchased mine from Collegehills recently, and I've definitely got peace of mind now that I've purchased the 8yrs/120k plan.

Cancel those policies then get the Honda Care warranty for <$1,000 and Fidelity wheel and tire protection for <$600.

There's a good chance you can either cancel and buy new policies at reasonable prices or renegotiate how much you paid for your current policies. Look at the fine print in the papers you signed and go to the websites for the policies to see what the cancellation process is.

For example, you can get a full refund on Honda Care up to 60 days after you bought it. There's a Cancellation Request Form to fill out. There's a $25 fee to cancel after 60 days.

I cancelled my Safe-Guard Wheel/Tire service contracts and bought a similar Fidelity policy for just over half as much. It took almost three months and some phone calls to get my refund but was worth the savings.

Just make sure you can get a new policy before cancelling the old one (assuming you really want the coverage and can live with what you paid for it). Some of the dealers who sell policies have a limit on how long it can be since you bought your car so move fast. If you can reduce your cost by $2,000 - $3,000 it's worth the time and hassle.

I got Tire and Rim Protection for 60 month at $529 (CDN)
Since we have extremely low profile tires and rims that can easily bend, this was a no-brainer to me.

From their website:

Your wheels put up with a lot on the road. In Canada, the weather can be uncertain and hazards can come out of nowhere. You can’t predict what will happen, but you can be ready. Honda Plus Tire and Rim Protection will cover you from any unexpected potholes, uneven manhole covers, nails or screws. And in Canada, your winter tires are covered, too.

Honda Plus Tire and Rim Protection covers all costs related to tire and rim repair or replacement. You’ll never use a deductible or pay out-of-pocket.

No matter where you end up in Canada, you’ll be protected. We’ll cover up to $100 in towing costs and chip in $50 per day for food and lodging if you’re more than 400 km from home.

ROAD HAZARDS ARE A VERY REAL PART OF DAILY DRIVING IN CANADA

• Potholes
• Uneven manhole covers
• Broken road surfaces from freezing and thawing
• Metal
• Chunks of ice
• Nails and screws
• Vehicle accident debris
• Glass
• Lost cargo

Anyone bought Honda Care extended warranty for their R? I got the 8 years 120k miles warranty for mine through Saccucci Honda Care. Feels good not having to worry about any break downs and having to pay for it for the next 8 years haha. I will only be putting 5-6k miles per year on the car but it will be some very spirited tough miles haha.
I did. I was kind of talked into it, but it was the end of the month, and I got something like 50+% discount (at least, that's what the guy said). It ended up being around $23.00 per month (down from almost $50.00) for the life of the loan if I am not mistaken. I also bought the wheel and tire insurance, which was 100/month for 18 months (plus $200 downpayment=$2000). I elected to pay that separately and not have it included on my monthly payment, which means no interest.

Question- has anyone had to rely on their warranty yet? I'm more interested in actual/bigger problems or necessary repairs, not minor inconveniences.

I'm debating if this is something I should look to get as well, though my car is a 2017. I've heard that it is possible to still buy it, so long as the original warranty is in effect. No idea if true. Will investigate further.

I'm debating getting the warranty, because I'm like any other enthusiast- always wanting more. I don't doubt I'll end up with a tune eventually- wondering if there's any point in getting additional coverage now and putting the tune off for much later .

I just purchased my car friday ended up paying for these warranties through the actual dealership i bought the car with

$985 for 8 year/100k 0 deductible hondacare (i dont plan to drive the car enough for 120k plan)
$499 for EasyCare Select Plus 5 years 0 deductible (this is supposed so to cover tire and wheels and even more stuff)

Note: I paid MSRP for the car 36,620 so they didn't make money elsewhere.

You can cancel and re-enroll with "brand new" hondacare plans provided you're within 6k miles after 6k miles its a different price. It's what I did when I got overcharged. Now I'm running 7yr/100k no deductible. Paid $905 from saccucci.
