Improve your braking performance, extend the life of your brake components, and make your braking system safer. Our titanium brake pad shims are an excellent and inexpensive way for managing your brake heat. They fit between your brake pad and brake caliper pistons to form a thermal barrier that protects your caliper and fluid from excess heat.

Our titanium brake pad shims are made of are precision engineered and cut 0.5mm 6Al-4V (Grade 5) Titanium. This material offers the lowest thermal conductivity of any titanium. In addition, we’ve applied a ceramic thermal barrier coating to further prevent heat transfer to the brake caliper, pistons and fluid. The coating used for these shims is the same as what is used on high performance pistons.

These fit the majority of the OEM Honda Brembo calipers like those found on the 2017+ Civic Type R and other manufacturers like the Subaru STi and Mitsubishi EVO. Currently only available for the front brakes. The fronts take the brunt of the braking heat and are usually the first to fade.

Dumb question: these will work with stock pads right?

Yes! These are designed to fit any pad. You can see the rectangular cutout in the bottom corners of the shims is to accommodate the squeal tabs found on the stock pads. Race pads usually don't have them, but these shims will work with either just fine.

Wanted to share a couple pictures of some of the testing we did on our brake shims. This particular car is not a CTR, it's an sti. However these cars share a similar weight and the same front brake pad. This particular car had some serious braking issues with our local track (Mission Raceway in BC) with big braking zones and basically no high speed sections allowing brake cooling. This car was especially bad because it is making double the factory power. On top of that, this driver has no chill. He's going all out, all the time.

We were originally able to get TWO laps before this occurred using R16 gloc pads and motul rbf600 fluid.

No fixing the paint (it used to be gold), but we got the brakes bled and cleaned up with new seals and tossing on some of our Ansix ceramic coated titanium shims and improved the ducting to the brakes.

With these two changes he got back out on the track and completed a full session and got 12 laps before experiencing fade. What a night and day difference! 12 laps vs 2!

After the session we did a bit of an inspection. The pads were not having issues, it was entirely fluid boiling. The hubs of this car were blazing hot (hotter than the caliper). The shims held up nicely. The coating was in fine shape.

the gold colour on the shims is from the pads. Even with all of this heat, the dust boots were still in tact behind the shims unlike the previous set.

Now I'm not saying that shims will fix all your problems, but this is a great stepping stone before investing in a proper track oriented brake setup. Most people will never put their brakes through the same level of harassment as the owner of this subaru does, but it will greatly extend the life of the factory calipers when used on track. You can get the shims here for 15% off using code ANSIXAUTO15.

Got a set of shims going on a Time Attack prepped k20 swapped EK civic running brembo calipers! This car won the Western Canada Time Attack series with the most points overall! Lots of lap time and wants to keep the brakes operating their best. Excited to see what this car will do this season! Imagine trying to use the same brakes on a car weighing 1000lbs more! Your FK8! Get those temps under control and maximize your lapping time.
