As the title says, what are the advantages of having a better weight distribution? People say that the coupe has better handling and cornering than the sedan but I read that the sedan has a slightly better weight distribution than the coupe. Does weight distribution have anything to do with handling?

The weight dist. for sedans is 60/40 while the weight dist. for coupes is 62/38. Not a huge difference tbh and they both handle pretty much the same. Weight distribution does have a lot to do with handling but it doesn't determine it. Properly tuned suspension/damping can help alleviate any shortcomings of a car's weight distribution. Ex: The Weight Distribution for a Civic Type R is also 62/38 and it handles amazing because of Honda's engineering and suspension setup.

Can weight distribution also affect mpg? Could this be part of the reason why a sedan get a slightly better mpg than the coupe?
