Looks good! A few items:
  • How is the fitment?
  • Any issues with heat from the engine?
  • Did you paint yourself or have a shop do it?
  • How difficult was the stock one to remove and does this one use the same mounting points/latches?

Fitment is actually really good! Just about the same as stock hood. Haven’t noticed any heating issues but it’s 80 degrees plus here since I’ve had it. I painted it myself. I’ll be posting an install video on it. Super easy to do. I’ve sold the car tho so hood is for sale

It is plastic, no sheet metal
It looks fantastic, and it's cheap enough that I might just do it anyway. If for nothing else, being lighter and having that hood scoop for better engine bay airflow would be worth it.

I just still have a lot of concerns with it lol.

Just want to make sure the mounting and latch points are strong enough to not necessitate the use of hood pins. And also that there wouldn't be any warping or embrittlement with the crazy heat these engines put out.

Is the scoop functional? It didn't look to be from the pictures I saw.

I would hope so. And, I mean, even if it's not you can easily make it functional lol.

According to their eBay listing, the hood scoop is fully functional

Without the "under tray" that comes with the type r hood it would actually disturb airflow through the front of the car. basically at speed the scoop would be pressurizing air behind the radiator working against engine bay flow. Might make the ignition coils and battery cooler but wouldn't be ideal as its a "feeding" scoop not a "drawing" scoop. The R's hood under tray takes air from that center inlet and deposits it in the back corners of the engine bay by where the fenders meet the door (also this area is vented by its side scoops so it can then exit right in front of the door). This is to cool some sort of body control module pertaining to adaptive dampeners (and might actually add some front end down force by a small margin), not for engine bay heat.

Just to share this info.

I still want the hood for all the other benefits and maybe to just preserve the stock hood while mine is a daily driver.
