Willing to spend $1000-1500 or however much for a upgraded turbo but wont spend $250-500 for a tune....

I hope it's in that range.... but I a have a feeling it wont be... Pure Turbo is charging 2000$ for theirs and that just sending yours in for modifying.. Comp turbo has a few options as well for our factory turbo as well..from 750$~1800$ .. and there is another as well but they are all on the 1500+ range so it makes me think that the 27WON version will be more than that... unless @Vincent@27WON has some super deal.. which I hope he does since I doubt people will want to pay anywhere near 2000$ for a turbo when PRL's Big Turbo kit will be starting in the 2500$ range from some of the info that they have posted... I hope I'm wrong...:hmm:o_O

I'm more likely to spend money on a tune than I am on labor. Spoiled by the Cobb WRX days when the OTS vf34 basemap was available. I can swap a turbo in an afternoon with a mechanic friend, flash the map, and then drive to a tuner who can use the basemap as a starting point. PRL is about 6 hours from me and Innovative is about 3 hours away.

Yes it has been tested from completely stock to fully bolted and various other cars in between. At this point unsure if there will be basemaps. Unlike an intake or exhaust the turbocharger has very large impact on air floe characteristic and VE. We will highly recommend a custom tune for this upgrade.

I assure you dollar per dollar this will be the best bang for your buck mod for the CivicX right next to a tuning solution.

The anticipation is killing me. I hope that there is going to be a basemap for this turbo when it starts shipping.

Same here, at least enough to get it some where to be tuned. The closest one to me is about 2-3 hours, so I'll have to install this then drive there.

A tuner is about an hour from me. I feel like that is still too far for an untuned car.

Agreed. Arguably you could try to make the drive and just avoid boost, or you could have it towed there. I really feel like Hondata or Ktuner should be producing basemaps. Cobb produced several basemaps for upgraded turbo's for the WRX. For the 2002-2004 WRX they have the 4 upgraded turbo maps available, VF30, VF34, VF39, and FP16G. With my old 2002 WRX I drove on their vf34 map for a few months, had a wbO2 and EGT gauge setup to monitor things, and also put it on the dyno to see what it was making (around 270awhp). My car had a significant amount of mods and the basemap worked fine with them. A few months later I did TGV deletes and was dyno/street tuned to make around 300 awhp. To further re-enforce the point of reliability, that engine is still being driven today. I sold it to my younger brother with 105k back in 2012. He has since modded it further, it's got over 180k miles on it, with an EFR7163 turbo making over 450awhp. Still on the stock engine and internals.

The fault here isn't on 27Won, or PRL, or any other turbo maker. The burden for basemaps is on ktuner and hondata. If they aren't willing to provide "safe" basemaps for an upgraded turbo there will be far less people willing to make the jump.
