Anyone go from 16s to 17s (stock tire size for both)? Wondering how much of a difference it would be on rough country roads.

An aside: "Veiled" here means "thinly covered", like a bride's face as she walks down the aisle to her wedding. How do you mean "veiled" in your context? I'm not being rude, I just think it's interesting when languages cross paths.
Oooops ! To be honest I just used google translate for this one hehe
I guess the right word would be "bent" :)
I live in a part of Switzerland where we speak french. Here when a wheel is bent you say it's "voilée". But "voilée" does mean "thinly covered" too, so that's where the confusion comes from ;)

Now back to my rims.
The problem is I should have never bought these things from the internet because these things tend to happen. That was clearly a mistake I'll never make again. I think I'll just get them repaired by a local specialist. The process of sending these things back to Germany is too much of a hassle and I'm not even 100% sure they're going to cover it under warranty. They could just say I did it... Which I didn't.

Just today mounted 225 45 18's from stock 215 55 16. Never drove on anything tire that low profile before. The difference in ride is huge, enough so I'm wondering also about what I'm sensing in the feedback from the tires. Still feel I'm feeling the road and not not any imbalance, after after only a few miles of testing.
i took advantage of a satisfaction exchange policy, my problems gone.
Did you go back to stock?

That's fascinating. I wonder how "voilée" came to mean "bent".

Could always ask them anyway. The worst they can do is just say "no", and that won't cost you any money.

I switch between 16s and 18s (16s for winter and stock 18s for the rest of the year) and it definitely makes a difference. Cracks and bridge expansion joints don't hit as hard with the 16s.

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth keeping the 18s if future resale wouldn't be affected, but at least they're pretty strong. I hit a hole about a month ago that was one of the hardest I've EVER hit in any car, and the wheel survived.

same size(225 45 18), since the first tire was the cheapest tire i could get, i went with a more expensive tire ( general ). they ride fine, but i guess are still too noisy, but thats ok for now.

i'm wondering that some switch to winter tires, i may want to switch to a touring tires that are quite.
the noise is ok in the city but for long road trips the noise could wear me down.

just to recap, the first tires created a vibration that was barely felt, but it seemed to be coming from a specific side in the front. noticeable going over 45 on even the smoothest of roads. resting your hand on the console you would feel you thumb vibrating, see the hood shaking all of which i would wonder if it were only the tires.

Gotcha! I went with General too(G-max As-05). The ride is good but I definitely hear the difference over stock.

Those b d ones.
For information these are a 26 inch tire for the biggest sidewall I felt I should go. It has taken the teeth out of acceleration but it still has bite. On my otherwise strock lx.

My rims are finally repaired ! No more vibrations ! Hurray :) It as done by a competent local specialist.
When I asked them if they felt like these were shitty rims when they were working on them, they told me that they seemed ok. No symptoms of these being low quality rims apparently... Which is good... And these look so freaking good on this car ! I will show them later on that other topic :
