I get it. It's a timeless design, But, c'mon VW, be a little bold for a change. Yes, the performance is there but the difference in looks from gen to gen is way too small.

That’s typical German automotive design for you. I mean take a look at a Porsche 911... I had a Mk5 (2008) and there’s only incremental design changes even now. But at the same time, the design is classic, imho. I wish I still had the GTI for performance but I sure don’t miss the expense of maintaining it.

I hear ya. But that new 6 year/72,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty does make the GTI a lot more tempting.

This. I do like my Si, but this makes the GTI VERY tempting...

-Will probably get flamed for this-

Am I the only guy who thinks all the GTI's look absolutely horrible? It's seriously one of the dorkiest looking "sporty" cars out there. It could come with a 2JZ engine making 350hp and getting 45mpg with a $20k sticker price and I still wouldn't want one. :rolleyes1:

You're not alone. I've always hated the look of them.

VW is going with that "aint broke dont fix it" type approach. And hoenstly, I dont mind. I like the car's classy styling, it may not be the most exciting but the GTI has never been known to look exciting anyway. They're still some of the best bang for your buck out there. Just an APR tune alone gets you in CTR territory.
