It’s been a bit since I posted anything here!
Installed a remote starter this weekend. Super easy, practically plug and play.
Install Guide (note that I did not wire up their hood pin switch, since I tested that the car shuts down and doesn’t start if I open the hood already)-

The seller selling that T-Harness offers a package deal for the remote starter and harness at $146 shipped. You just have to contact him through eBay messages and ask.
The HON7 version harness is very new and is hard to come by right now. It offers the full takeover function, so the car doesn’t shut down when you enter the vehicle after its remote started. With this new version, there’s full takeover so the car stays running and all you do is press the ignition button and it takes right over.
Now with the car being a manual, there’s a sequence you must follow to enable remote start. With the car running, you put your foot on the brake and turn on the parking brake. Release your foot from the brake and exit the car with it running. As soon as you shut the door, the car shuts off and is ready to be remote started.
I did notice a few quirky things.
1) The walk away lock feature no longer locks the vehicle. I think this is due to the system thinking the key is still in the car due to the remote starter. That is fine, turned that off and just use the key or button on door to lock.
2) When exiting the vehicle and shutting the door during the remote start exit procedure, the rapid warning beep that you left the car with it running happens before it shuts off. Kind of annoying and there’s no way to disable that (I tried everything through head unit). I was told dealer may be able to do that, not sure. If it gets really annoying I will just unplug the buzzer behind the rear trunk and seal up the connections.
3) When you do eventually remote start the car, you HAVE to unlock via the key fob unlock button. If you use the door handle, it will set the alarm off. Fortin says this is also normal since they don’t monitor that door unlock sensor, only key fob.
Other than that the system works great and was a great addition at only $140ish.
Nope! It’s all programmed into the unit using the program decyptor tool. Those days are far gone now needing a key left in the car lol.Awesome.

You're basically spot on with the install. Follow the guide I had shared in my post, it's pretty straight forward and walks you through the whole process. I called their tech support a few times to get some help on the programming side of things. I did not choose to hookup the hood pin switch they instructed to in the guide, but the vehicle still shuts down or won't start if it's open. So I don't see that part as being needed. This was my first remote starter install in a vehicle, however I am pretty handy and have done many full stereo installs, so this was a piece of cake. Probably the hardest part was removing the trim below the steering wheel to gain access to those wires that need to be cut and tapped into.About to try the Fortin Evo install for my type r
Do you have a bullet point process for how to install that you could provide?
I haven’t seen anyone on YouTube describe how they got it to work.

Hook it up with harness and tapped wires.
Turn on the car
Remove module
Flash the module.
And reinstall.
Is there any programming you had to do with OEM remote?
I’ve done these before a long time ago and I’m at 75% confidence I can just do it, I want to feel 100% before I tear the car apart haha since it’s been around 7 years since I’ve done car installs.
How much Dynamat did you end up using in the doors? Looks good!This past weekend I went ahead and did some sound deadening and upgraded my front door speakers.
Sound deadening I used was picked after doing some extensive research into the car audio world. KnuKonceptz Kno Knoise Kolossus came ahead Dynamat and other brands. This stuff is no joke with quality and thickness- 100 mil! Dynamat stuff is 40-80 depending on version. The doors feel and sound absolutely solid now, what a difference! I went ahead and did the rear trunk lid and will be doing some other areas of the car with the leftovers that I have. Haven't decided on which areas to do next though.
For speakers, I went with the JL Audio C2-650s. I had the C5s in a previous vehicle and fell in love with them then. These certainly do not disappoint and I'm very happy with the upgrade in sound. They pair very well with the Alpine tweeters, JL center speaker and the 10" Kicker sub.
Kno Knoise included 20 sheets (35 sq ft total) and I used about 2.5 sheets per front door and 1.5 sheets per rear door. You really only need 25% coverage but I wanted to make sure the inside of the front doors were covered for piece of mind. Some people go beyond and do the entire inner skin of the door before putting the panel back on, but that’s just a waste of material in my eyes since this doesn’t block any sound, just mainly reduces vibrations and resonance. I’ll definitely be doing the rear deck lid where speakers are, and adding some CCF to help with those rattles.How much Dynamat did you end up using in the doors? Looks good!

PM’d you.I just installed this myself this weekend. I'm stuck though I'm at a point where the car will crank but not start. I'm sure there's a setting I need to select in the bypass module . Do you have any ideas?
So the harness I made, one end plugs into the factory connectors of both the sub and the rear left speaker to grab the signal. Then it also has connectors to plug back into the factory speakers and new amp. Total plug and play and all speakers continue to work.Hey, quick question about subwoofer, did you keep your stock sub working or disconnected it? And you took signal from it, right?
