Question: What was used to engage/disengage the parking brake in the 2017-2018 models before they added the switch in 2019?
I think it's the same e-brake, which is located on the center console to the left of the gear shift

17-18 models also had the switch. 2019 introduced a red led light as a visual cue to let you know that it was engaged as well.
Oh makes sense. The little red light is actually super helpful too because it's become second nature to hit the switch when I'm parking, and I don't even realize I do it half of the time, so I am always looking down for reassurance that it's engaged lol.

Another small thing I noticed is that the boost gauge goes all the way up to 20psi. I can’t speak on the 19’s but my 18 only showed it going up to 14psi.

I can confirm that the 19's also only go to 14 psi

I have a 2019 Si and I'm envious of the black wheels of the '20. But it must be said that the black wheels have to be cheaper to manufacture than the '19s and older with the machined and clear coated surfaces. And didn't the Canadian and Mexican market pre 2020 Si's have all the upgrades of the U.S. 2020 plus a real spare tire and jack for the same price as a U.S. model?

In 2019 we got the updated radio/info system, hvac controls, cupholders, usb extension and parking brake switch. The lane watch has been around since the 9thgen.
I can never figure out why some things are different in the US and Canada models. I mean i know some things have to be different to confirm to regional laws, but why would Canada versions not have a simple usb cable..lol. Well..least we get a spare tire!

Here’s my 2020. It’s such a great bargain. My only beef is the notchiness in my 1-2 and sometimes 2-3 shift.

The gearbox is the best 6 speed I've ever had.. At the same time it's really stiff and notchy too. A little Amsoil fluid should clear that up

My history with the cars indicates the notchiness definitely smooths out with use.

One thing that helped with smooth low gear shifts is pushing the clutch in a bit before letting off the gas. Most of the second and third notchiness is caused by the delay valve slowing clutch operation (were talking milliseconds of difference compared to the other gears). Another tip is a slower fluid motion of the shift from pushing the clutch in to moving the shifter into gear to release of the clutch. Slow(ish) and fluid motion.

I start pushing the clutch in noticeably earlier (compared to releasing the gas pedal) when leaving fist gear to go into second.

I cant state this as complete fact but I am almost certain the factory computers track the clutch release percentage and delays certain throttle plate movements until the clutch is completely depressed/released. I do know the computer tracks from 0-100% the clutch travel. Its not just a momentary switch anymore. It tracks the whole motion. If you notice sometimes the gas pedal has a little bit of a dead spot immediately after the shift. I think this is a "buffer zone" that honda has in place to assist "poor" drivers that may be new to manuals. Once your aware of this and figure out how to drive around these details everything starts to fall into place.

I'll take the led lights, spare tire and wireless pad over an Amazon $5 usb extension.

No disrespect, ...prefer my engine rpm’s at 3k when going 80mph instead of 4K....”QUOTE]

FYI 3k in the '17 - '19 Si is 77.7 mph - the '20 is 73.3 mph; likewise 4k is 103.6 vs 97.8 about 4 mph different.
So you're pulling about 500 rpm less vs 1k.

I've yet to drive a 2020. I'd like to get a feel for the new final drive. The times are still just about identical. I'd imagine the 2020 feels sportier with the revs up though

It helps daily driving way more dramatically than quarter times or 0-60 will show. Parking lot and slow speed turns are no longer that awkward in between 1st and 2nd bullshit that had been too slow for 2nd and too fast to allow 1st gear.

It just feels correct.
