Hi All. I just spoke to a friend that mentioned that the 2019 Type R has a different part number for the transmission than the 2017/2018. He speculated that this may have something to do with a fix for the lockouts/grinds.

I can't seem to locate any sources with which I can verify this. Can anyone confirm if the difference in part numbers is true?

Interesting. Will look into this if someone else doesn't chime in.

Anyone have any info on this? I checked all of the discount parts sites but none of them have the 2019 Type R listed yet.

Interesting, that would tentatively seem to shoot that theory down. It definitely shows up under 2017-2018 with a Google search. I'm guessing that when the 2019 parts hit, it'll pop up there too.

Bummer.

@baldheadracing might know the answer to whether or not there are new part numbers or if the old ones are just being discontinued.

http://hondapartsnetwork.com is usually the first site to have all the parts listed for models. However, I didn't see nor could I find the 2019 R by VIN on their site. I found out you can search via VIN on this site and it will usually pull results not found by doing a manual search. I did this for the 2019 Civic (and Si) once they hit dealers and I could grab a VIN online.

2019 Type R will use the same transmission as previous years.

How horrible is it when it happens? The only time that I've ever grinded gears in the last, it was really loud and horrible.
