It looks like you have to get both the illumination kit and the armrest at the same time because the side armrests have the recessed for the LED strips. I already have the console illumination kit installed, and it looks like a $300 upgrade with the shipping included and have to double dipped the illumination.

I'd definitely be interested to see some one do this. I don't like the fabric on the armrest at all. it looks so dirty all the time, even though I keep the inside of my car meticulously cleaned.

It's all our dead skin. I like the fabric seat which is grippy but hard to maintain, but both fabric and leather have the pro and con of each.

The armrest on the 10th civic should have come standard as such with the taller and angled cushion padding, never liked the flat set up in the first place. I might have my buddy to customize it if I could find another civic's 3-pcs armrest.

If it would fit Civic (CTR in particular), I would go to a company like https://www.redlinegoods.com/ and have them make me a black Alcantra “suede” cover with red stitching that match the CTR interior! I would love to see someone (beside myself) do this. Lol

Is there a DIY for the armest install? I'm not interested in the illumination

From what I have read and seen, it looks like illumination is required. There's no separate install guide for the armrest that I have found, only the illumination install guide that includes the armrest.

You can see that there would be a gap on each side if you didn't install the illumination kit with it. That may work, but not sure if I would be okay with that lol.

I was thinking that too. The diagram makes it tough to tell though. Who has actual part photos?
