How did you install the mounting adapter, if you put it between the shield and lens, you will get shitty results. It has to go between the reflector bowl and shield.
I did place it between the shield and lens. But that wouldn’t explain why the beam pattern is so differently shitty between the two projectors prior to the shims. Quality control just isn’t there on these projectors I guess. But thats good info for future retrofits, much appreciated.

I just did mine on Saturday, no shims required. Plate placed between bowl and shield gave me perfect sharp cutoffs on both projectors. At first, I tested it between the shield + lens and it gave me the results like in your picture in the first post.

I dont suppose you took any pics of that? Really don’t want to pull my bumper and open the lights again but I just might if thats true.

No, I didn't take any pics when they were opened or comparing the cutoffs. Maybe if someone here has a set they haven't installed yet, they can take pictures, but here's a picture of my cutoff.

I got a video that helped me determine which to use.

I used the updated D2S 5.0 which has a slightly different pattern.

H1 and TL-R are 2.5 and don't need any modification. I used D2S 5.0 since i wanted a bigger lens trimmed a little off the shroud to fit and you have to pry up the reflectors (H1 or D2S) or else your light beams will aim at the ground.
The difference in cost between the Morimoto H1 and D2S is 10 dollars.
Here is my walkthough:
