Rhetorical? I guess it's for the pleasure of owning and driving a superbly engineered FWD car produced by Honda with a reputation for making fun and reliable cars. Even for MSRP, I think it's a fantastic value and so do many dealers, thus the insane ADM to this date. Enjoy it and don't look back.

Did you actually think the Type R would go up in value as a collector car?
Remember it's a mass produced Honda, not a Ferrari, Pagani or Porsche.

That is pretty ignorant statement. I guess you know nothing about previous Type R's or the S2000 . The Type R will hold its value after the 10th year mark where it will still fetch 10k+
While your GTI will be in the junk yard and on the craigslist for 2k dollars

Less than that , the value will go up after the 12th year of ownership as did the S2000 and pre
You mean your SI wont be worth anything. The Type R is a totally different platform from what you are driving bud

    Honda, back at it again
The ITR and S2k value went up because the vehicle was discontinued. If Honda continues to produce the CTR after this current generation, the FK8 won't appreciate in value. Who wants to buy old tech for $20k+ when they can spend a little more for the superior model with all the latest bells and whistles?

The STI is a good example. When it was first released, people were unsure how long Subaru would continue to sell the vehicle in NA. The resale value was good for years until everyone realized Subaru wasn't going to discontinue it. My friends STI was worth over $20k 4-5 years ago. Instead of trying to sell it, he got lazy and held onto it. Now he's lucky if someone offers him $12k for it.

I agree. I think it is a TYPE S/GT with a 10 SPEED transmission 2.0 underpowered accord engine

GT model with honda sensing , It would not make sense to make a cheaper Type R with no wing . Honda would not devalue the real type R brand for what it is by making cheap ripp offs. Thats why they have the SI.

I highly doubt the new bumper will see significant cooling vs a 2017-2018 model year R.

IMG_9396.JPG Here's the facelifted 2019 base Type R with smaller wing in white. Are those smaller wheels? More pics on carscoops.

I saw a post in one of the FK8 FB groups showing a side profile of the Touring for MY17-18 and the refresh and the brake discs were larger. Maybe some mechanical changes to the top trim?

I would love if this new model came with 19s instead of the 20s. That way I can retrofit them onto my car without losing the look.

I don’t like the smaller wing. IMO if people can’t get over the looks of the car then they should buy another... same with the fake vents. Yeah they are tacky but it’s just trendy design in modern cars.

Imagine if the buying process for civics actually made sense, where you could pick the engine from among the ~4 available in all the civic platforms, and pair it with one of the ~3 body types, in ~3 available trims.
Instead we have a weird Frankenstein of 3 trims per body for 7 bodies where it's all secretly the same car. Looking at you sedan, coup, insight, Si, Si coup, hatchback, type R, soon to be Si hatchback.
