More than enough people out there have disposable incomes to be able to trade up to a newer MY just because of features. So....yeah, people are planning that.

Also don't forget that they can break even/make profit usually with their CTR, and if they have contacts to get a new one at MSRP, then... who cares.

That being said....
LOL NO ONE breaks even or make a profit on their CTR.

The 20" wheels definitely have a unique driving feel. I like my 18's on 35 profile tires because of the gentler everyday driving and not worrying about bending rims, but I miss the direct response and the crazy turn in on the 20's.
that depends on selection of 18" tires with the right stiffer carcass (one of most important characteristics of a tire btw) and proper suspension setup/mods. 20's with 30 series tires doesn't necessarily translate to better turn in response. with my karcepts 9 way adjustable sway bar and lowering springs, running on 245/35/19 re71r tires, my turn in is much much better than stock. re71r tires have stiffer carcass too.

And I'm sure if you ran 245/30/20 re71r tires, your turn in will be better than your current set up. My own experience is still true - stock suspension, stock wheel/tires vs my current 18" set up. YMMV, ok?

correct, what i said was you can make your current even better than stock by tuning the suspension to get the results.

I missed an 'if' in there. I have no idea how private sales are doing, although I get the impression that it's possible people have broke even. :dunno:
unlikely even in private sale...once you've accounted for the $5k or $10k markup they paid and the cost of capital ala interest if they financed the car. very hard to break even if you paid say $40k and took out a 5 yr loan at 5% and had to pay interests mostly upfront in early years and sold say after 1 yr of ownership.

I paid MSRP, as well as others. Combine that with people that can pay cash entirely (not me!). It's a tiny crossover on a LARGE Venn diagram, but it can happen.

I don't know, the possibility exists, but it's probably not rooted in the majority of people's reality. Still, my point stands that there is a larger subset of people that will likely dump their 2017 for a 2019 for a volume knob ;)

If you live in a state that has no sales tax and if you bought at MSRP or 1-2k over you could’ve walked away at a wash.

States like Wa that have 10%+ sales tax you don’t stand a chance of walking away without a loss.

Wonder when the '19 CTR's will hit the lot. As far as the headlights go, I feel like they did that as a cost cutting measure overall, it would suck if they stuck the halogen bulbs in them though. I've heard mixed reviews about the current CTR's LED setup, but I still feel like it's a step backward for most people on the '19 CTR.

headlights have not changed as far as my dealer said but they did say there is now a volume knob.
I hope that's the case. The only thing I really want is the upgraded infotainment as that's something that would bug me on the '18s. If everything else stays the same, that's perfectly fine to me.

Converting car to cash? Yeah, you're going to lose on taxes.

Converting to another car? Most states allow your trade-in to reduce the taxable amount of whatever car you're trying to purchase. In that case, yes, you'd still recoup what you paid in taxes and drove away at a wash.

Just because it's a high number doesn't mean it's a 2019. Still most likely a 2018 on the last build run for that model year.
