Two dealers her in SoCaL have them listed online at $35k... but then when I actually spoke to them today they both have ADM of almost $5,000. Sucks. I'm really considering getting a new STI instead just because of this. It's not just the ADM, it's how I feel as a consumer being forced to overpay and also be treated like I'm stupid... things like a $39 charge for wrapping the floor mats in plastic wrap, or the $499 paint treatment that is basically just a wax (I confimed it's NOT a ceramic/Opticoat/sealant of any kind).

My dealer wanted £500 for a paint treatment where I could buy the product for less than £10 on eBay, and I'm pretty sure they'd spend no more than half an hour applying it (including the time for the traditional wash with a gritty sponge first just to make sure the paint is ruined before any minimal protection you might actually get from the treatment). When I pointed that out he did offer to reduce it to £100, which shows what their profit is on these things if you pay the full price, but I declined it even after the discount. I'd rather spend more money and get it properly treated by a specialist with a reputable brand so at least you know the job will be done right.

I am really annoyed now though - I wasn't offered the option of such a valuable and worthwhile service as having the mats wrapped in plastic!

Man I feel bad for what many went through. I have to say the Honda dealer I got my CTR at did not do any of this. I paid for the car, license fee 100$, and I asked for additional 2 year warranty. That was all no headaches gimmicks or hard sales. If anyone is buying a Honda in South West Ontario go to Listowel Honda they treat car buyers with respect and Dignity. Honestly it was the best transaction I have ever been a part of. Good luck to all still shopping do not let dealers take advantage of you :)

P.S. it was totallt worth it :) love the car more every day :) Mine is CBP and number 2357

I respect this response, but a big part of your argument as to why the Golf R is better is because it's quicker off the line ("fastest straight line car") in the segment. I could care less. The Type R could be 2 seconds slower 0-60 vs. the Golf R Automatic and I would still buy the Type R strictly because it has a manual transmission and the Golf R doesn't. Modern minivans leave me in the dust all the time in my S2000...maybe I should consider trading in the S for an Odyssey! I totally get you're a car aficionado and you've owned some great manuals and automatics...but you're not a 100% manual owner. Again, don't take this the wrong way as there is nothing wrong with your view of manual vs. automatic and wanting to buy the best/fastest car in the segment, I'm just arguing that for a lot of us here the manual transmission is all that matters vs. the competition that doesn't offer one.
You lost to a minivan in you S!

Not when you are driving a Golf R w/DSG which is arguably a better overall car for a daily driver. Sorry guys but the R interior is light years ahead of the Type R (more comparable to Audi & BMW than the Type R, Focus RS, and STI that all have mediocre quality interiors) and the DSG equipped R is the fastest straight line car in the segment. The more I drive this car the less getting a Type R is a priority but since I have commitment issues with cars I know I will eventually change things up.
I have a 17 Golf R and I picked manual. Way more involved driving don't care about a second faster. I also have a CTR and a AP2. I doubt your auto can beat a CTR in the straight line. I've seen video that shows other wise. I can't wait to get rid of my Golf R when something better comes out. Hoping the new Supra will be a 2 + 2. Golf interior is blan, but at night when it's all lite up its pretty amazing. The car is gross looking and the trunk space is useless.

Do you have a CTR? CTR > Golf R

2 months ago it was $20K. Last month it was $10K. Now it's $5K. I think once these dealers still asking $10K over sticker are stuck sitting on cars and 2018 shipments start arriving, we're going to start seeing more and more at MSRP. The chinks in the armor are already starting.

I just posted in the other thread that I called a dealer in Tampa who, believe it or not, told me their PMM CTR was selling for MSRP but they were also taking offers. So maybe one might go below MSRP, at least before they tack on some dealer fees.

I followed the focus RS and it took about a year and a half or so before it got to msrp. At first you couldn't find them on the lots. Now they can be had for 1 to 2k under msrp and you can find 5 or 6 on the lot at any given time. The same thing will happen here. That is what I am waiting for. Given their popularity, once variants come out, that will give us even more options and we could see some used 2017 CTR's hit the lots as well.

I'd really like to test drive a focus RS and a CTR before making my final decision, but I'm pretty sold on the CTR to replace my focus ST.

Hint, don't go into a ford dealership with a G&R t shirt and ask to test drive one. I could have wrote them a check if I wanted to, but they didn't know that.

I'd be pissed off if I bought a 2018, then a couple new colors come out for the 2019 CTR, with one of them being Phoenix Yellow :nono:
If PY had been available, I would have really struggled to choose between that and BSB

I really hope there is a substantial mid-gen refresh, it draws a line in the sand between 17/18 and 19+ cars

Then everyone gets a car that's a bit more limited production

2019 Base Civic Coupe, Sedan, and Hatch will see an updated front and rear fascia's as well as new wheels, some colors and updated tech, interior.

Look for....Sensing Standard and maybe LED headlights throughout the line.

As for the CTR, I will be surprised if they refresh it for '19. Maybe '20?
Agreed. The CTR already has different front and rear bumpers compared to the base models. I think the SI will follow the base model refresh.

I test drove an RS before I got my R. It is an amazing car. Biggest downfall was how stiff the suspension is even in the softest mode. It's hard to even carry a conversation with the ride quality. Ohh and I hate Sync. Other than that it was awesome. I was able to get them off 10k ADM and down to 500 below easily. I'm glad I waited for the R thou!
