I’m on my second turbo. Any turbine shaft play is the result of a blown turbo. I went and bought another stock turbo. My advice upgrade your turbo to a new one and don’t two step. Rolling anti lag is okay here and there because your getting air into the motor but at a standstill don’t do it.
How much did it cost you to get it replaced?

I’ve just watched a video on kia turbo motor rebuild and brand new turbo had play on both sides. I guess it is to compensate for thermal expansion
Yeah same here just seen some Garret’s with the same play. So I think I’ll be okay.

If there was zero play in the turbo it would seize. Hydrodynamic lubrication is your new best friend. If you are truly worried about it take some measurements.
