All measurements were taken using a cheap tape measure, pre-coffee, so take them with a grain of salt and double-check before making any decisions / purchases / alterations. Rounded to nearest half-inch. Taken from a 2018 Civic EX-T sedan.
Manufacturers and professional reviewers should really provide these sorts of numbers. It's fun to know how many ping-pong balls fit in the center console, and cubic feet of the trunk can give you a vague idea of usable size, but actual dimensions are far more useful. Particularly for folks wanting to know if something will fit in their trunk or not, how much space they have for car camping, etc.
Hatchback and coupe owners, please add measurements for your cars!
A = 54.5” trunk tub at widest point
B = 40” trunk between wheel wells
C = 23.5” wide carpet piece at flat bottom of hole behind rear seats
D = 35” hole between trunk and back seats at widest
E = 36”, depth of trunk, plastic protector to start of hole
F = 41.5”, maximum depth of trunk, plastic protector to seat base
G = 22” trunk interior height, carpet to rubber seal of lid
H = 14.5” height of hole behind rear seats
I = 26.5” height / length of rear seat back, not including head rest
J = ~33”, rear seat base to back of front seats (varies with front seat position)
~74.5”, calculated distance, plastic protector to back side of front seats, or just over 6 feet for you car campers.
29” trunk plastic protector width
The sedan has a lot of cargo space!
