Yesterday evening a driver in a Range Rover rear ended me. This was the damage to my 2017 Civic Touring with less than 20,000 miles. I was stopped getting ready to make a left turn when he did it. Do you think my car will be declared a total loss? Attached are the photos from the accident.

FYI The driver side airbag also deployed and the car would not startup after the accident.

FYI I live in Washington state. My insurance is State Farm and the driver who hit me's insurance in Nationwide

Sorry this happened to you. Look up what the value of your car is. If it gets with 80-90 percent of the value of the vehicle, insurance will likely total the car. Hopefully, you'll get a fair settlement and get back into a Civic of your liking. Good luck.

Do you think that’s more than $16K - $18K worth of damage?

I can't say, I'm not an insurance adjuster. But I can guess it's gonna be close...

The fact that the airbags deployed makes it very expensive. If there's frame damage, that's going up the cost, too. I'm sure there are a ton of other factors, too, but that's my layman's perspective.

Yep...that's a LOSS. I'm certain all of the details will get sorted out and that you are even upright and walking around....backside hits are nasty. More than likely another case of a driver (in the Rover) fussing with their phone - typical....
Looks like that was in Lakewood?

My 2016 Touring had less damage to it and they totaled it. If the repairs exceed 85% of the book value of the vehicle they will total it (at least this is Geico's policy). I am quite certain your vehicle is a total loss. Hope you are okay.

Oh yeah. That’s in worse shape than my lancer was. Cars are not built to fix, they’re built to crumple and total, that way resale values stay high
