Clearly the rear is what really sets the Civic apart. Otherwise a lot of similarities. Looking at the lineup as a whole, I actually think the Accord is too sporty looking for what it is compared to the Civic.

This is what I've been waiting for legroom is a big concern for me and seeing that they are very close is promising to me since I drive a 2013 accord right now

One difference is that the Accord has best-in-class visibility all around. The Civic, on the other hand, has good visibility out the front, but it looks only so-so for rear visibility from the driver's seat.

Win win... in 2017 a whole new Accord will launch. Cant wait to see what Honda does next.

Given what they've done with the civic, the new accord for 2017 is going to be a stunner. The new platform obviously. But I can only imagine what kind of tech and features the accord will come with to put it back above the civic. One thing's for sure... the ILX and TLX are going to need their redesigns bad when they come around

In many ways I prefer the Accord to the Civic. The bigger N/A motors get very good MPGs for such a large car, and they all perform very well for their class.
I like the Civic interior better.

But what really gets me, is that Kia is offering the Optima SXL starting at $36k+!!! One of the magazines just tested one at $38K MSRP as tested price. WTF?? WHo would buy that when the Accord Touring trumps it in nearly every way?? Accord Touring is way more powerful, much less price, has a ton of tech, LED headlights, very good MPGs real world, Honda reliability trumps Korean reliability, etc etc for $35K.

I have also tested the Accord Hybrid last year, that was an amazing car. Real eye opener at how good Honda has become with their latest Hybrid Tech.

I don't think this is true!

Normally, anytime Honda redesigns a car, the year before will have an SE trim level!

Since the Honda Accord does not have an SE trim level for 2016 then I don't guess it will get a redesign for next year!

An Optima for $36k? Are they crazy? The Accord touring is about 3 seconds faster to 60, has Honda Sensing, and its a Honda.

Agreed. The accord was just refreshed for 2016, so a complete redesign is at least a year off.

The new Accord debuts in 2018 on the new chassis. I do like the Accord better. It's a lot of car for 36K. It looks good, rides well, and has a potent powerplant.

But I will choose the Civic all day, simply because we can get the 6MT paired with a sunroof (Si). It also sits lower and is expected to offer a tad more response from the wheel - at least on their Sport models.
