Hello everybody, I’m new to this forum. I have a 2018 civic lx sedan. I love the 2.0 and I made sure to get the 6 speed manual. It is so fun to drive. But I just ordered the 9th gen Si rims. They do not come with center caps. I’m expecting the rims in the next couple days. I already jumped the gun and ordered some center caps off eBay. Just need to know if they are the right size. They are 69 mm face. And also if anybody knows if I go with the 225 40 18 tires will my speedometer read correct?

I have a ‘16 EX-T (35k) with the same wheels, no issues with fit. Have had them rotated @ dealer every 5k & only get compliments. The proper size tire to retain correct speedo is 215/45/18, then next closest is 235/40... 225/40... I chose 235/40 for better grip/handling & also keep the wheel-wells filled. 225/40 is the OEM size for the 9th Gen’s Si wheels.

That looks great. I can’t wait to put mine on. I’ve read some people saying their brake calipers were rubbing. So you obviously didn’t have this problem. How much gap do you have between the caliper and rim? Also do you think you could post a closeup from the top of the tire so I can see how much your tire extends out further than the rim, or is it pretty flush?

It’s a close fit on the front right caliper 1-2mm but never had an issue. By design, all Civic’s front right calipers protrude a few millimeters more than the other 3. Didn’t use any spacers & used the factory lug nuts & center caps that came on the stock wheels. Sorry for the dirty pics, hurricane in the area...

And I don’t know who came up with the 215 45 18. But according to a tire height chart, the 235 40 18 is actually a closer match to what came on the lx and ex-t models, compared to the stock tire size. The 215 45 is taller than stock. Even the 2018 civic si has 235 40 18 tires on it factory. So I think that’s the best choice

Thank you very much for posting the pics mo4sure. Those tires look perfect. And like I mentioned above, the 2018 civic si comes factory with 235 40 18. So you picked the perfect size in my opinion. Thanks again. Great looking car. I’ll post pictures of mine here in the next couple weeks with a before and after. Gotta order my tires now

So you are using 225/40/18 wheels and only get a small 1-2mm clearance.

Yet some are claiming they are able to use 17" wheels (45mm Offset) and have caliper clearance on the 2018 SI.

Does not seem to make dimensional sense, or am I missing something ?

I’m not understanding the question but tire size is 235/40/18 on a 18x7 rim. I believe the tight fit is b/c the Si rim is 47mm? Tire fit has nothing to do with that

The question is : If a 18" rim only just clears the calipers, then how can a 17" rim, which one would assume has a smaller internal diameter -- but if it fits, cannot have a smaller inside diameter.

I realize that the 18 & 17 refer to the Outside rim diameter ... so what governs the Inside diameter that needs to clear the calipers ?? The Wheel design I assume.?

Trouble is, I am assuming too much, and would like to know how this really works

What we were referring to was the gap between the caliper and the back of the face of the rim. So it doesn’t require spacers.

Well I got my rims in. They look awesome! Problem is 2 of the 4 were damaged in shipping, so I will have to send two back. These are replica rims, but to me a rim is a rim. They weigh 25.8 lbs. I will post a picture when they are on and let y’all know if there were any issues when they get mounted. Got them from road ready wheels. They make OEM replicas and happen to have the Si rims for $148 bucks. Free shipping and no tax. Not bad in my book

Got my si rims on today with 245/45/18, had to put 3mm spacers on the front to clear the calipers - really happy with them. Added a sub and swapped out the front component speakers for a set of kenwoods, ordered the leather steering wheel and gear knob, going to wrap the chrome grill in black and get a mild window tint.

I was wondering if you have any problems with wheel rub in your fenders with those meaty tires?

Well I got my rims put on. Went with 225/45 18. They came out looking awesome. It is raining outside so I had to take a picture from the garage. But had no problem with caliper rub or anything. Came out perfect
