Hi. First post here, woot. Anyway, as a previous owner of a 17 Lx coupe turned owner of a 18 Si, I was looking under the hood and noticed the rubber ‘seal’ for the intake on the Si blocks the opening of the airbox, nothing like the 2.0 that actually utilized the opening on the radiator shroud, and gathered up some cool air that way. I removed the rubber on the hood, along with the goofy little tunnel that is on the stock box as well. More air is more gooder, yeah? Or am I missing something? (Mild research was done).

I realize that it’s more HOT air, but looking at the factory setup, that tiny opening can’t be getting much cool air anyway, just working with what I have for now. Thanks all, CMoore

In this case, I would trust that the Honda engineers have somewhat of an idea of what they are doing. I’d leave that part in place. If you want more airflow, check out an upgraded filter, or better that, a quality cold air intake such as the PRL Cobra.

Essentially what I was thinking. It just seems silly to leave the cut outs in the plastic panel, but then not utilize them in some capacity. But yeah, I’m definitely not an engineer lol.
