If their torsion beam is so good as their marketing team says, I want to see the marvelous piece of engineering in the CX-5, CX-9 and Mazda 6.
What they should do is exactly what VW, Ford, Mercedes and Audi did in Europe with their compact cars: entry level engines get torsion beam to make them...
I have my OEM ones that I used for ~3 months and then I replaced with 3D Maxpider. I have sold the Civic but I still have the OEM floor mats. If anyone is in need of them, from Seattle and willing to come to SLU, I'm giving them away. (just PM me)
I say the manuals are dying because people have more money to spend on cars.
Something I noticed in US vs EU:
I'm from EU and recently moved to US. I learned to drive a manual, did my driving exam on manual and drove manuals for 13 years. The only reason I never had an automatic transmission...
Well that's kinda expected given the fact that in US there are 9x more cars sold than in Canada. Unlimited production in Canada might be just 10%-15% of what they'll sell in US.
I think both are great cars.
I own a 2017 GTI Sport DSG that I got it with ~$5000 off MSRP (Truecar average for my area which pretty much puts it very close to Civic Si) last year when I traded my 2017 Honda Civic 1.5t. I really wanted to drive test the Civic Si back then but the dealer said...
One of the reasons why I now own a GTI and why competition is good. I hated the CVT on my '17 Sedan and when I went to the dealer to look at the Si, they told me that they don't want to put miles on it and only if I am willing to pay something upfront.
I did the same (traded the Civic after just 6 months), just that I went for a 2017 VW Golf GTI Sport which had a 5000$ discount as the facelift is around the corner. Never ever will I buy a CVT car and I cannot imagine why I did bought this one.
I wanted to test drive the Civic-Si before, but...
CVT is the main reason I sold my Civic after 7 months. I am happy they are considering other choices now.
It is smooth but that's the only thing it has.
I pretty much agree with you as most of those points are similar to my experience when I traded my EX-L for a Golf GTI.
Are you sure you have a DSG box on your Jetta? From the configurator, it's a basic AT with torque converter. (still better than the CVT)
Sure, Civic Si has no DCT/AT/CVT gearbox so if you want an automatic/DCT hot-hatch, Honda has nothing to offer.
I am just comparing those here as this is what I had before and this is what I have now so I can put here my subjective owner experience.
I couldn't stand the CVT anymore. I just couldn't. I prepared myself to get the depreciation hit and I traded my Civic for a 2017 GTI Sport DSG.
I cannot understand now how I bought this CVT. It was my first automatic car ever and in the 30 mins test-drive I did not realized what I got into...
Waw. Just look at that interior !!
Full button control for the climate system showing the temperature there, volume knob, dashboard with classic speedo and revs. Everything I hate at my Civic is fixed there !
Hey guys,
I have a 2017 Honda Civic Sedan EX-L with 6.000 miles now. I've been to the first service at the Honda dealer and while waiting I started to look at the Honda Accord a bit.
I have some dislikes with my car:
- Road noise on bad pavement is high
- Climate control doesn't do it's job...
