  1. Favorite Honda car you have owned?

My 97 accord se will always be special as it was the first car I bought on my own, it was a tank even through all the abuse and even hitting a deer, even an expensive speeding ticket unknowingly racing a state trooper....lol. it ran flawlessly no matter what. It was the first car I modded with...
  2. Honda Civic Type-R Over sticker dealer naughty list.

$35k is a good price, but $45k and up here in Illinois I believe will be a tough sell for fwd performance car. At that price point you can get a 2016-17 camaro ss 1le or if you love hatches a golf r that offers awd.
  3. What's your purchase price?

I believe 33k is the sweet spot, I would go 35k max and wait it out if they are 40k. As mentioned already 40k puts it in competition with stiff competition, especially in the used market. I looked at mustang gt and camaro ss, problem is the back seat is tight. I have a dd already, but I don't...
  4. Hype R or Type R?

I agree with you on this. I've seen guys claim 5.3-5.1 0-60 in uk type r forums. The biggest issue seems to be the tires as the current ctr will spin through 3rd gear. If Honda put some a more aggressive tire with the supposed increase in hp from current ctr, a sub 5 sec 0-60 with a good...
  5. Honda Civic Type R purchasing process

I remember when those were out at the dealerships in Illinois, the one by my house had that Mugen si sitting for a year, no joke at $33k, they finally sold it for $28k. Cali is weird, there was a focus rs a couple months ago used with 2800 miles going for $42k, and in Cali I saw them on...
  6. SI VS WRX

  7. Mugen Civic Type R

its possibly an alcantara type material. I prefer it to actual leather as someone posted earlier you get more grip and it saves weight. I'm sure those are a couple main reasons for the cloth.
  8. Our 2017 Civic Type R hatchback preview based on spy photos

I love these renderings. IMO it looks better than the 9th gen type R
  9. SI comes after Type R? 2017 Civic Type R pre-orders already accepted?

Yeah, I've called a couple dealerships here in Illinois and they are not taking pre orders now. SI looks to be available shortly after coupe launches in March.
  10. Civic Si timing now that coupe won't launch until March?

I think si will hit showroom floors in June, it wouldn't make sense to release a performance model in fall right before winter.
  11. Waiting List for 2017 Civic Type R

The problem with the Magen si was it was primarily cosmetic enhancements instead of actual added performance. Had it come with supercharger to coincide with suspension, they would've sold out quickly. The evo and sti base models were basically the same price as well. I hope Honda learned their...
  12. 2016 Honda Civic Type R Has Price Tag That Misses Mark

There's no way the CTR will be $46k unless there's dealer mark up. The Focus RS starts at roughly $36k with awd and more power. Now for Honda enthusiasts, the awd and power difference will not matter, but for majority of casual buyers, at $46k there are other options just as capable out there.
  13. De-chromed '16 Civic coupe

    That sounds spot on
  14. First Cosmic Blue Metallic 2016 Civic Touring photos

They had this color at the dealership I got my 15 cry from and told me to check it out. It was a touring edition in cosmic blue and the sales person I talked to said it's very sharp and to come check it out. It was sold and gone by the time I got off work.....lol. When I got there another...
  15. NEXT Type R versus 2016 Focus RS

The previous focus rs was able to handle 420hp very easily with fwd setup which I believe Honda based their system off of. Jay Leno did a review on a 2010 and IMHO I think type r was based off that version of rs. I remember gm built a cobalt ss that beat some pretty hefty competition including...
  16. New Here? Introduce Yourself!

Hello everybody, I'm Mike checking in from Chicago. I've been following this site for awhile after the civic coupe concept reveal. I'm looking forward to the si, wishing for type r but trying to be realistic here....lol. I've owned many different types of cars from Dodge Charger r/t to mr2...
  17. 2016 Civic Si turbo - welcome or not?

The amount of money spent trying to come close to a car that does 7:50 on the ring will be very expensive, you'd pay just as much as the actual cost of type r. In terms of straight line speed it's very possible, but to compete with what the car is actually built for will be a tall order.
  18. 2016 Civic Si turbo - welcome or not?

Exactly....I believe a person in the market for type r would go focus rs over si......unless you're a hardcore Honda fan....lol
  19. 2016 Civic Si turbo - welcome or not?

I agree with you with the exception that de tuned 2.0T in si will cannibalize Type R. For starters the hardcore type r enthusiasts will opt for it regardless of what engine si has. You have to remember type r differences from si will be far greater than just engine, factor in transmission...
