Same. When I'm inching forward in heavy traffic or to make a turn I tend to turn it off but when I'm at a light I turn it on practically by instinct. Has anyone confused it when reversing? Sometimes when I switch from drive to reverse to back into a spot the brake hold causes the brakes to stutter.

That I get, but I imagine the car knows the proximity of the fob, not the person. For example, several times I've left the fob in the car with my girlfriend because I forgot something in the house and it never beeped at me.

How does the Civic know if the fob is still in the car? Edit: How would the Civic know that the fob is still in the car but the driver isn't?
