I installed a tuned slapbox with a 6.5 inch sub, and a Rockford Fosgate amp with built in high level inputs tapped from the rear speakers and I had ZERO previous experience upgrading any car audio equipment.
With a bit of patience and youtube, I got it installed in a couple of afternoons and...
I have run Mobil 1 0-40 and didn't notice anything unusual with temps, performance, or mileage. Wear metals also came back fine. If there was damage done, the report didn't show any. I suspect because there was no issue running it in this engine. I normally run m1 0/30 AFE with similar wear...
You shouldn't need to worry IMO. Elevation reduces detonation so lower octane is actually (edit) ok to use. The ecu and turbo should compensate just fine for the thinner air at elevation.
I remember once in my tuned Golf TDI a boost pipe blew , black smoke belched out and I thought I grenaded the turbo as it madde a loud bang. Luckily just an intercooler pipe popped off :)
Not a civic, but did a drain\refill of my wife's 2017 CRV CVT fluid and Diff fluid @27k miles. Very straightforward and easy to do. The CVT took just over 5 quarts to refill. Diff took about 1.2 quarts
Here are pics of the magnetic drain plug. The first is the Diff, which frankly had more...
So by this logic, the 0/w40 oil I ran should have shredded my bearings. Well then color me disappointed. My wear metals were great running that viscosity. :dunno:
I cold weather, this engine really will not warm up much idling anyway. I've even observed coolant temps fall quite a bit at idle on cold winter days. I just start it and get underway after 30 seconds or so to get the temp up to operating as soon as possible. I'd rather freeze my arse off for a...
@Design, this was not AFE, but I did a UOA of that on the same sheet at about 9200 miles on the car while running AFE 0/30 which ended with a cSt of 7.11 @100 but still looked good wear wise.
I can't really say if it was more or less accumulation in the can after the tune. I have noticed less and less over time, and definitely more in winter mixed with condensation.
Here is my latest OUA with Mobil 1 0w40 run about 3500 miles. Only mods are Vittune and mishimoto catch can, which barely collected a teaspoon on this OCI. (previous analysis was with M1 0/30 AFE)
I do not baby the car and do plenty of pulls to redline. Happy with this report and I could have...
I still want to see what a 10th gen civic valves look like with or without the catch can. I have had one for 20k miles and hoping it is doing the job..
Anyone want to lend me a boroscope?
Both are awesome and I have used both, but I am really enjoying the Tunerview capability of Ktuner. Not a fan of the sometimes overzealous ktuner fanboys, but if you can look past the BS you will find that you cant really go wrong with either solution
I have had the catch can for about 17k miles and I see more condensation in the can in the winter. Very little accumulates in warmer weather from my own experience. Maybe a teaspoon or so of oil every few thousand miles is what I see in there.
The humidity will have very little to do with your sluggishness btw. Temps do make a difference though for sure and timing will be pulled reducing power. I have seen IATs over 150 in stop and go with temps barely at 90.
BTW, 90 degrees with 90% humidity would mean the dewpoint is 87. Do you...
