  1. Considering trading for an Accord Sport 2.0T 10AT

Related to comfort and quietness: how is the road/tire noise in the Accord? How are the seats? I've read mixed things about both, especially the cloth on the seat centers. Some say it's upscale but grippy, others say it's satiny and slippery. Obviously they won't hold a candle to the Si's seats...
  2. SI vs GTI Car and Driver

My point is that I think people expect a car to last 200,000 miles without following the minimum maintenance requirements. Hondas can often last that way, but when a car doesn't, somehow it's the manufacturer's fault. Like the DSGs giving up the ghost after "only" 50 launch control starts...
  3. SI vs GTI Car and Driver

I honestly wonder if (aside from the well-documented water pump and coil pack issues of generations past) VWs have a stigma of unreliability despite evidence to the contrary in recent years because people expect a car to just work without any maintenance. Hondas and Toyotas can seemingly run...
  4. SI vs GTI Car and Driver

The knob itself on the GTI is awful. The plastic (pleather?) that makes up the golf ball texture is slippery, and that fork thing that props it up gets in the way of the base of your hand on shifting into forward gears. The throws are longer, but the shifts are positive. Ruined by the knob.
  5. Considering trading for an Accord Sport 2.0T 10AT

This is among the craziest series of calamities I've read about coming from the same dealership. The whole story is outrageous.
  6. One Take - 2018 Honda Civic SI

What struck me most is that Zack seemed to "get it". With so many journos being underwhelmed by the Si for any number of reasons, including the engine, the performance delta between it and the "normal" Civic, and the existence of the Type R, it's refreshing to see someone who understands its...
  7. SI vs GTI Car and Driver

We have a Mk7 GTI in the garage, and let me say this to everyone hating on it: you are absolutely wrong, and you're being blinded by outdated notions and/or blind fanboyism. And I've been a Honda fanboy for decades. The GTI absolutely beats the Si overall. We're at about 40k miles on the GTI...
  8. Extender Warranty

I like Coast. They've always been straightforward and non-car-sales-y. I've heard good things about Hamilton as well. The TR sales department can eat a dick.
  9. Extender Warranty

    Which dealership?
  10. Confused about the engine output comparison between 9th and 10th Gen Si

Because people take manufacturers' published figures as gospel and nothing else will convince them otherwise. Honda says it's 205hp, and the 9th gen was 205hp, so the 10th gen is the same. Not bearing in mind that other (German) manufacturers have been severely underrating their turbo engines...
  11. Extender Warranty

I just had the whole nav/radio/climate system (aka "black box") replaced in my Accord. It's the single most expensive part in the entire car, including the engine. (Here's the part on HPN in case you're interested) And it was covered. AFAIK there are only a few non-covered electrical parts in...
  12. Extender Warranty

The car is not just the engine. The warranty covers other mechanicals and all the electronics. The extended warranty covers more than the original. Trust me when I say it will pay for itself if you ever have anything go wrong with something you didn't mod, and what will go wrong is almost...
  13. Underrated (MPG)

Is that 40 miles each way on the Parkway? If so, pretty damn close to my commute.
  14. Little Mod I figured most of you would like to have on here......

Listen, if we're to drive Hondas we need to embrace the stereotypes. This adds at least 5hp. Plus it does actually look nice.
  15. Fuel to the Fire: 1.5T in 10G Accord Gets VTEC

Even with a smaller turbo and injectors, tuning for 93 alone should open this engine up a lot. If other small-turbo 2.0s are any indication, there will be some massive gains over the stock 87 tune.
  16. Fuel to the Fire: 1.5T in 10G Accord Gets VTEC

How's that working out for you?
  17. NY/NJ Si Owners? How many of us are out here

Calling out the owner of a MSM sedan I saw in Lacey over the weekend with either HIDs or LEDs in the stock projectors. Made me stare. Looks nice!
  18. Fuel to the Fire: 1.5T in 10G Accord Gets VTEC

You have my vote. But then again I'm one of those Internet People who wish for a car company to make a particular model then doesn't buy it when they do.
