Very curious, just why you consider the recommended 0W-20 oil somehow sub standard ? Also is 640:1 the gas oil ratio ? If so then you'd better realize that at that ratio there'd be essentially no lubricating benefit whatever (consider what's done in 2 cycle engines).
2L NA and never hear any grinding (or other unwanted noises). Anyone with this engine ever have grinding ? If not then it might be related to the 1.5 turbo engine, probably the turbo (?)
It still amazes me, how anyone would consider an oil, outside that recommended by the manufacturer of the engine, to somehow be an upgrade ! Really ?! Have you consulted Honda on this ?
Are you kidding ? See : http://www.civicx.com/threads/what-no-volume-knob-big-f-in-deal.6845/page-3
I never have the slightest issue with infotainment, 'cause I don't have it, Thank God !
Hey planedoc did you forget about me ? Yesterday you reported me for using a political reference, but I can't seem to find it now. Could just be looking in the wrong places.
bye bye...
LX has a fan speed KNOB as well as the volume knob. It appears that Honda thought, that going to the touch screen on things, was somehow an improvement. Go figure ...
It's been quite a few years, can't be sure, but 30 and 40 rings a bell. It wasn't a whole lot different from automotive since the engines were similar.
As a Professional Engineer (retired) I take exception to your grossly unfair characterization. PEs designed the very "shit" you work on. Not to demean a good mechanic BTW. Interesting what you say about radials et al. As a private pilot flying Cessnas with engines not all that different from...
Well excuse me for liking my CVT. When I purchased in August, I considered a MT and decided against it, for reasons I won't get into, for fear of incurring the wrath of all in this thread. I have an understandable interest in CVT vs. MT discussions. Will someone please explain a possible motive...
Wow, a whole group (majority) of people named after me. You might try showing some evidence for your suppositions. How 'bout some negative comments from people WHO HAVE a CVT ? Let's me out there; I think it's the greatest since sliced bread. Didn't someone say something about driving a rubber...
So, Honda goes through all the expense and effort, to provide the rare and highly desirable MTs as a kind of cheaper-but-better option, knows how well they sell or might sell, then deliberately under stocks them, so anyone wanting one has to wait months ? C'mon, get real. Why would they do that ?
"Yes, we get it. CVT's suck and manuals rock."
Obviously, Honda is stocking according to demand. To do otherwise would be insane.
If the MT "rocks" so much, why only 2.4% ?
Double clutching allows getting the counter gears turning ideally a tad faster than when the desired gear is engaged. Best way to engage reverse is to bring the car completely to rest, begin to engage any synchro gear (reverse is not synchro) to bring the counter gears to rest, then go into reverse.
Then you should realize that messing with some aspect of code will almost always effect some other aspect. e.g. All the other issues reported by some after the VSA "upgrade".
It has the ability to go to ANY ratio, smoothly and without fuss, and that's exactly what it does. What's implied in some of these posts (again by people that have no experience with CVTs), is that it somehow can't make up it's mind and seesaws back and forth. NOTHING CAN BE FURTHER FROM THE...
