I love hearing about you high mileage guys. Can you list any repairs needed to the car outside of fluids/brakes/tires? Iām only at 41,000km right now so Iām a ways away from you haha.
I welcome new technology, you can fight change all you want but it's gonna happen. Honda has had direct injection in production engines since 2012 and there are very little carbon build up issues with them. Sure the oil dilution issue is a bit of a concern, but not something I wouldn't avoid...
You're %100 right brother.
To the "engineer" here and everyone that is following his mis-information and eating it up with a side of fries...
This is what the company that manufactures oil says to do when checking your oil...
You canāt go by just smell alone. Youāre literally smelling something that is in an engine that burns gas. You need more to go on to say itās %100 gas in the oil, like an oil Analysis. As many people have stated, unless your engine is super effed, youāre not gonna raise the oil level by 1cm...
Your oil analysis is showing at 3500 miles. If that's what it's at then, there's no way you have any oil dilution shortly after an oil change. You over filled your oil a bit, and you're miss "smelling" your oil. It's fine. It's a DI engine. Move on with life and keep an eye on it.
If you just changed the oil there's a very low low chance that it is actually gas, you've just over filled it. If you're truly sure you have that much gas in your oil so soon after an oil change then you have a huge problem with oil dilution and you need to get that addressed by a dealer or a...
Okay, it sounds like you just over filled it a tad. A little won't hurt anything. That's not oil dilution, oil dilution is when your oil is mixed with a bit of fuel, common issue on direct injection engines, and has been a well documented issue on the 1.5T.
How much oil did you put in when you...
You're asking one of the most asked questions about cars on the internet, or maybe even the world. "When do I change my oil?"
You will get sooo many conflicting answers about this on any forum. SOOO many opinions will come at you. Honda's maintenance minder monitors throttle inputs, cold...
Hey too, I had a slow leak. I had a weird whistling noise when the engine would rev between 2-3K, and I found it would go away when the AC was turned off. I took it to the dealer, found the condenser leaking, and then replaced it for me. They really should be replacing that condenser under...
We'll have to agree to disagree here. Think about the average person doing their own oil changes, or brakes even. These sane people have no knowledge of AC systems, sees a port they can hook a can up to "fill" the system, and then ends up over charging the system, then it causes short cycling...
If the system isn't empty you donāt really need to purge it, but you just donāt know how much to add. But if it was leaking that much then who cares lol.
Iād be interested in an update on how it went once you complete the install. The weak spot on these systems is the condenser, after market...
Lets take a step back here. Iām not sure why youāre so defensive. Weāre talking about two different things. so your system was a little low and you added refrigerant? okay?
Iām talking about when you completely open the system to air, like replace the compressor or condenser you need to...
I donāt need to rethink it, and it certainly is not a theory, itās a well known fact that if you donāt purge the system before adding refrigerant it will cause the compressor to fail prematurely.
Then you'll be okay. I've just heard way too many stories and seen many hacked installs of HVAC equipment and systems WAYYY overcharged. Forgive my skepticisms of DIY. Yes there is a procedure and if you'll follow it you'll be okay.
