That's just wrong. Ask your service advisor. There is a reason why they always have condensers, compressors and evaporators on hand. You have a 2020, i'll give it less than 2 more years and you'll experience the issue first hand. Then it will keep on recurring.

The 23 civic still uses r1234yf refrigerant, which has proven to be problematic across all vehicle manufacturers that use it. Not just Honda. So for me, unless Honda is willing to offer a complimentary 10 year warranty on the entire junk Ac system, I won't buy another one. My new Subaru uses...
Charge it yourself with a can of honeywell r1234yf. Very simple and cheap to do. If that doesn't last long, either live with it or trade it in. There is no fixing it. It will just keep on breaking.
I hope you bought an extended warranty. Because next year when your AC craps out again, they'll want to put in a new compressor and that will set you back $2k. The complimentary extended warranty is on the condenser only. But the whole Ac system is junk.
Mine was over 4 years old when the Ac issue started. Then it became an annual repair. It's a major issue. If you don't think tso, speak to an honest Honda tech.
You're right, they would do that. That's why I traded in at Subaru. They never asked about the AC, this was in December and it was freezing out anyway. I got a good value for it.
I had several issues that i can look past(rear shocks, power window switches, premature rusting on the trunk..). But the ongoing, repeated Ac issues soured me permanently and I don't think I'll ever be back.
"Not a problem on new civic" Not YET. They haven't been around long enough to give me the confidence you have.
It's a major problem on the 10th gen. It's not just the condensers that are garbage, so are the compressors and evaporators. And there is no fix. They'll just throw the same garbage...
I know, it's a more luxurious and more "grown up" type r, and for my tastes it is way nicer. Having said that, it's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a relatively powerful front wheel drive that's just going to spin tires through third gear. Useless for my usage.
It's crazy that they are not even bothering to actually fix the problem. They are just throwing on the same garbage parts that'll get you 1-2 more years of service until you're out of warranty. The only way I'd buy another Honda is if they offered the 10 year complimentary warranty on the entire...
