OK. Tracking season about to start. HEL oil cooler-check; C&R race radiator-check; C&R intercooler-check; 2nd radiator-check; vented hood-check. Now that should keep me going fast, I'd better get to work on upgrading the brake pads to make sure I can slow when necessary!
I just followed Fatherpain's guide to take the bumper off. Route the oil line cables through the hole they suggest. Just make sure they go thru and down towards the front of the opening. The oil lines fit along the tray in front and get fastened right above that on a cross member piece.
I'm...
Oil cooler is installed. Actually fits pretty well. Very poor documentation. B&W copies that weren't that good to start with. Poor quality photos. Seriously, they can't afford to do a three page manual in color???
Car is now over at a friends shop to complete the rest. I'm 75 so crawling...
That's what I ended up doing. I also had them routed through the opening incorrectly. So after getting back underneath I found the right path and it's all hooked up. Thanks for the tip.
Now for the rest of the cooling. C&R Race radiator, intercooler and the second radiator. Hoods been...
Trying to get the HEL oil cooler installed today. Has anyone got it done yet. Very poor instructions with very poor pics. Which side is the input side?
Just got through doing all that and you are right now a little more room. I think it amounts to about 2-3 inches gained in height. I always carry a second set of wheel/tire. I use 9.5/265/18 to track and carry the 8.5/19/255 combo in case of a flat or damage. That way I can swap out the fronts...
Then I guess it all depends on how much you need/want the wet traction. In my case for the foreseeable future it's all dry grip for the track and the tires just have to get me back and forth without issues.
I chose to try a set of Kuhmos 265/35/18 on new Enkei rims. The rim choice came to me...
You're just learning how much fun the car is. I would be very happy with that mileage, I need quite a few highway miles added in to get up there. 21-22 usual for me.
I agree that we buy the widest tire we can fit, but that may not necessarily be the fastest in our respective situations. I know that logically it makes sense to me but I really don't have the experience at the track that you and others have. If you are on 275s now and you came from 265s, have...
I read the same article and several others at the Grassroots Mag site. I took something a little different form the article. It seems that we may want to consider wheels that are as close in width to the tread width or wider. I may have to go back and reread that but I thought they found that...
Shortly after I had posted that, I started reading on another site and came across that reference. There is a book by Paul Haney on Racing and High Performance tires that apparently covers this in depth. So I will be sticking with the 265 width. Thank you for your insight as always.
I hope to...
Well I'm on stock suspension also. So I'll see if I can compare the two tires in the same size. I'll be running the same wheel dimensions as you are - 18, 9.5, +45 so that should be the same. I see the 275 Kuhmos are $10 more for each vs the 265s.
