I think I get the same thing and have attributed it to the road noise that the stock wheel/tires make on these rough Washington state roads. It also seems like the cabin exacerbates that road noise for whatever reason.
My biggest complaint is that the R is too fast to have fun with on normal roads (at least here in Washington state).
The only ways to truly have fun with this car is to either run it uphill in the canyons or on the track.
Other than that, i have no complaints and the car is solid in every way imo.
I wouldn't trust a dealer to do work on my car if its something I could do on my own. If you're just planning on changing the fluids and brakes and don't have a garage and/or tools, you might want to check out Stew's garage up in Kirkland.

Don’t ever sell the S! Take it from me (nfrguambomb on s2ki), you’ll regret it later on. There’s no better feeling than driving top down and hearing the vtec crossover.
South Seattle owner here:wave:. Ive posted in the regional forum too but it doesn’t seem like anyone checks that. There’s a few fk8 owners down here that I’ve waived at and I’ve only gotten stares back (guessing they’re not on the forum). I’m down to meet up if we can get something going.
Just tried the Spoon Duracon from my GE8 in the R. it sits a lot higher than the stock ball knob but it feels much better IMO. You can feel the shift gates much more and each shift feels more direct.
