No disagreement that it's faster on the track, but even then on a track you just need to keep a car in the power band. Torque numbers aren't particularly important for straight line and trap speed if you have a skilled driver launching (or launch control).
That is not to say I don't appreciate...
What were the conditions of testing? Unless two cars are matched head to head (same day, same weather, same testing location, etc.) then it's not really worth trying to compare a 14.6s to a 14.8s 1/4 mile.
Also, what was the trap speed at the 1/4? I find that correlates much better to "butt...
If the Mk8 GTI goes up to 250HP like some rumors say, I'd hope they at least bump the 11th gen Si to 225HP.
Given that the Mk8 GTI comes out within a year (MY2020), and the 5-6 model year Civic generation lifecycle means 11th gen Civic should come out for model year 2021 or 2022, and thus 11th...

Seems the consensus between the two hosts was that the GTI was 3rd. Unclear who won between the Si and Veloster N (or if a split decision).
A follow-up of sorts from MT, comparing their experience driving the Type R to the Si:

This take is a lot more reasonable (different writer, if it matters) in my opinion.
Yeah it's strange they waxed poetic about the (non-Si, non-Type R) Civic in the recent Civic vs. Mazda 3 and Civic vs. Corolla comparisons. Going on and on about how the Civic is a far more lively car to drive than either competitor.
Now the summary of this review is: "Both of these are way...
Dang, seeing some of the deals people in this thread (and other similar threads on this site) makes me wonder how much more wiggle room I had to go down :(
Regardless, bought last week in the Bay area (California):
