I was paranoid that it was the turbo at first. After doing a bunch of research I realized that a turbo problem would be way louder. My noise is only really noticable with music off and windows up
When did your noise start? Mine was after a year.
I posted about this a while ago myself. What rpm does it start at? Mine is around 1500. I can only really here it between 10-30mph and only during as I'm accelerating. There's never any sound when keeping constant.
Nothing ever came of my issue, it's still there though. A few others posted...
Is yours super obvious when you're next to a wall or something, even when giving it very little gas? Mine is most obvious in parking garages.
I'm thankfully not noticing anything different in how it drives though.
Does this sound like a boost or exhaust leak? Heard this for the first time when I pulled I to a parking garage.
Sound starts as I give it gas and then fades away a couple of seconds after I let off.
I have had a weird sound for some time.. kind of a whistling whining sound at low speed and low rpm(see my old thread). I took the car in to honda and they said that they didn't observe anything usual. They told me to "keep an eye on it" and bring it back if it gets more noticable.
The sound...
Not in a hot state...
If the turbo is going out I think the sound will ln be unmistakable to anyone. Attentive owners will pick up on anything and everything, but i would think a dying turbo should be noticable to anyone to the point where they comment.
Would the CVT sound change pitch depending on how fast you're going? The sound I'm hearing is lower pitched and then it gets higher the faster you're going.
I put the car in park/neutral and gave it a little gas to hear the turbo spin a little bit and it makes a different sound than what I'm hearing. Maybe it's the CVT.
A quieter version sound is present when I'm going faster, like 35+. If I'm going slower it's a lower pitch whistle. I had the car 1 year and I just heard this new sound so it's kind of bothering me.
Yes, that's the sound! I never had a turbo or a cvt car so I don't know what's normal.
I'm just trying to figure out if it's from the turbo or the cvt and if that noise is a problem or not.
I took another video this morning with less cars around so it should be easier to hear.
