I had to bend the metal prongs you're talking about to fit my exled LEDs as well. The black sleeve is larger than the outside diameter of the factory bulbs so it wouldn't fit past the prongs without minor persuading.

not at all. Very easy. There are 2 pull tabs and a 10mm bolt on each side that need to be removed in order to pull the undertray down out of your way. Then just unplug, twist out, and replace the bulbs. Took less than 20mins
