That's thread refers to the front bumper gap. This is in respect of the rear bumper gap - far larger than the front in some of the cases I've seen, including on my own Civic.

I have only just noticed that where the trunk/boot lid meets the rear bumper the gap is not equal all the way along. It looks like it curves upward from the bumper slightly from the left, and then back down toward the right.

This is definitely resolved by the replacement part being fitted (under warranty) by Honda as per the Service Bulletin. I had the exact same noise, and since my local Honda fitted this part it's been annoying-anger-inducing whistle free driving! :)
