I use 87.
Did not lose ANY gas mileage, still averages 32mpg with me cruising at 85-90mph and driving it aggressively around town.
It still has no issues doing 120+mph, its abilities are not hindered at all.
Went on a 12 hour road trip and averaged 40mpg passing cars and doing 85mph.
I don’t...
I hear ya lol.
I actually built my STI to 408whp (pump gas), and decided it was no longer daily drivable with my back issues.
But I NEVER want to sell it, so that’s when I got my Civic Si to daily drive.
Love both cars.. they make such a good pair, the fun but conservative Honda to daily, and...
Yes it’s ok.
Heck I’ve raced my Si with 87 octane, and I’ve even set the cruise control at 120mph with 87 octane.
You don’t lose any mileage, but you do lose power when it’s hot outside.
During cold temperatures you cannot tell any difference.
My car did not suffer at all, my UOA wear...
I own both.
It’s apples to oranges really...
My Si is such a better daily driver, comfortable, 35MPG, fun to toss around, I drive it 95% if the time.
My STI is raw, there’s no comparison.. it’s the most raw oldschool car available.
It’s very inefficient and gets 15mpg, but absolutely...
I see so many people here spending unnecessary money on “boutique” oils that you don’t need. Spend a few minutes reading a good summary (from the people that test your oil!) about why it doesn’t matter.
Every oil you can get off the shelf now is really good, yes even the Walmart Supertech oil...
Supertech synthetic 5w30 ($15.98) and a Premium Guard PG4615 filter ($1.80).
Takes me about $18 to change my oil with synthetic and have leftover oil.. I’ll be changing it every 5000 miles to keep fuel contamination down.
With the fuel dilution in these cars, you’re better off changing your oil early, stop wasting money on expensive oils.
Recently did a UOA on my Si with cheap Supertech 5w30, it showed great results.
Has anyone been able to see what’s the highest speed that cruise will set to?
I set it to 104mph (168kph) and it works, it actually keeps the car at that speed; which surprised me because I thought cars in America had the cruise control limited to lower speeds because of the super slow highways...
2018 Si, it gets regular 87 (about $2.19/gallon in Florida) because it's my daily beater so idc, it runs perfectly fine and even gets 40mpg on the highway still. My average is 32mpg combined and I drive it aggressively.
My Si is just my daily/beater (that i'm falling in love with), so I've kept it stock except for a mishimoto intake that adds no power, just sounds nice.
I really don't wanna have TWO modified cars so I'll probably keep the Si forever stock..
My STI was always my weekend car, and I got a chrysler 300c SRT8 to daily, then replaced it with a GX460... then sold that lexus.
I decided to drive my STI every day, but its too rough.. so I got a 2017 civic EX-T to daily and started to build my STI to make it a more fun weekend car, then I...
I run Supetech synthetic 5w30, $16 for a big 5qt jug; and also a Premium Guard PG4615 oil filter.. $1.80 at RockAuto and I order them bulk for every car in my house, the premium guard is nicely build.. better tham the oem.
Spend less than $20 for a synthetic oil change and have oil leftover.
