I have no personal experience with using one carrier's hotspot on another carrier's network, but I did research this when shopping for the hotspot. I found that most hotspots should work on another carrier's network. YMMV There are great deals on my local Craigslist but I got mine for free...
I thought I read in one of the many of the OD forums, that they are now doing a software only update instead of replacing this component. If so, what is the part number of that software update?
Mine did this a couple of months ago and I remember finding a setting in the head unit where you can enable/disable AA for your phone. I do not know how it got toggled, but it has been working fine since I toggled it back to "enable".
I have had no problems with HD and non HD stations here in St Louis, It sounds like a antenna, connecting cable and/or Head Unit to me. Any custom car stores near by to ask?
I use Android Auto with Google Maps and I get turn by turn on the dash. Be sure you are using the latest software.
BTW, It is a good idea to put the year of your car in your profile. Different years have different issues.
My Google Maps have been flawless, but I'm using a new Samsung S9+ with latest updates. Try to see if your having a location problem and/or a content problem.
I just read on a Android Auto forum that this is being "fixed" in the next update of Google Maps. Around Jan 10-11 some of us will be happy and some not so much.
FYI My 2018 EX-T/HS sedan built June 2018 in Japan has kernel 3.1.10+wed mar 14 2018 and build number 1.F1A2.34
BTW there are other threads on this topic ,, check out audio/nav/electronics
My late build 2018 does not require that I press OK on start up. It will disappear on it's own after about 5 seconds. Is this different on earlier models?
I have a 2018 with a June build date (from Japan). I have not had any real issues with the HU. I also was on the fence due to the early growing pains of the 10th gen tech. Android Auto and my samsung s9+ phone are working great ... so far:)
