The bottom and top vent are 2 separate piece that moves ever so slightly, try putting your fingers in between where I marked to brace the top piece and see if the clicking goes away. It could also be a really loose vent fin.

That can be salvaged, if the plastix doesn't do it, using the same method to restore an oxidized head lamp assembly should do the trick. You will need to pull the entire assembly out though. Good luck!
