Sounds like the consensus is to replace it. Do you think a whole new cable from Honda is really necessary? Or can I take the end off the cable and replace it with a generic positive cable clamp? Cleaning off the wire, of course.
My second battery died yesterday. Got 41 months on a 36-month battery, so I'm good with that.
In removing the old battery, there was a ton of battery acid corrosion packed under the red positive terminal cover. The blue-white powdery kind of corrosion. Turns out the battery's positive post...
I removed fuse A-19 for a few minutes and then started the car. The display came up and I got the "hold down the Power-on button for a few seconds" note. After that I got the "GPS needs to re-aquire. Park out in the open for ten minutes" screen. I did that and in a few minutes it went to...
Yes and yes.
I'm going to try pulling fuse A-19 and putting it back.
If that doesn't work, I'll pull the battery cable and put it back.
There appears to be an anti-theft code you have to enter if you do that...?
Started the car and backed out of the garage. Screen showed a darkened backup view as it does when backing out of a dark garage. Screen never lightened up when I hit bright daylight. Screen stayed in dark backup view when I put it in drive and drove away. Screen was unresponsive to any of...
If you were in Toronto today, it was probably below freezing when you did that. I wouldn't expect the AC to blow cold air no matter how low you turned it.
Have you talked to a Honda Service Rep? My compressor was replaced under warranty, then just 11.9 months later it went out again, this time outside warranty. Honda ended up offering to pay for 90% of the second replacement.
On my 2014 CR-V, there is a "secret" menu button sequence you can push that brings up a hidden menu screen. You can turn the rear camera on so that you are looking out the back while you are moving forward.
I haven't found such an option on my 2016 Civic.
You don't have to hold down the start button like you do on an old key start. You can just punch the button and the starter will engage, start, and release on its own.
You can turn on the side camera manually using the button on the end of the turn signal lever.
I keep track of my gas purchases and fuel economy in a spreadsheet every time I buy gas. I use the “B” trip meter to track each tank of gas and the “A” trip meter to track over thousands of miles.
My “A” tracking has shown the Civic’s gas mileage meter to be accurate to within 1-2% over the...
Your statement that "fuel economy is quite flat between 35 and 70 mph" does not apply for this turbo vehicle, apparently. The fuel consumption at 38 mph is 0.0149 gallons per mile while it is 0.0233 gallons per mile at 70 mph. So fuel consumption is 56% higher at 70 mph.
Dealer says the compressor is leaking again and needs replacing. They just replaced it 360 days ago. They gave me the car back unfixed and said they are “submitting paperwork” to see if Honda will pay for it. They “hope to hear in a day or two.”
My AC is dead. For the second time. One year ago, they replaced the “compressor, clutch, and coils” under warranty. Now the car is out-of-warranty.
Would the “coils” they replaced last year be the evaporator? Or would it be the condenser?
I’m taking it in tomorrow for repair. They’d...
Somewhere along the way, the lower corner of the driver's door must have hit against something. A one-inch 45-degree chamfer has been bent back about 3/8".
Any thoughts on how to handle this?
Thanks!
