I"ve been thinking of switching from 255/40/17 to the 245/45/17 for the taller tire. I'm not sure I want to give up the width, but more speed in 2nd would be nice. Do you know the top speed you are getting in 2nd with those tires?
I bought my SI to autocross because it is classed well. The type R had less favorable comments from people who have autocrossed it. That’s the reason I bought the SI - Plus for a daily driver I like a very firm suspension and the SI has that.
I'm female... I bought the SI specifically to autocross. It's a great car for anyone. But I think in general, less women drive a standard these days so that's probably part of the reason you see less women driving them.
It was the end of season, so I don't know if it was just a fluke, or something weird about how I drove the course. The car had already had ~150 runs for the year when it occurred. Since no one else has seen it, I'll just hope 2019 does not have it happen again.
I was in my 2nd PM run yesterday and during the run the sport mode started flashing. I don't tend to look down, but the red lighting in the dash was flashing on and off and caught my eye as I was getting to the end of the run. When I pulled in to grid, sport mode was not on, and the nannies were...
It only sucked because there was no time to walk the day 2 course after finishing day 1 runs. Guess I should have walked it Monday ;)
My region has a dedicated Jr driver who can't make it when she's in HS next year, but might be able to do a Monday only event. That's part of where the...
Good points - I am guessing there will be a lot of letters with other ideas. I think even if there were 40 less drivers Tuesday, it still would have been on the edge.
Love having kids there, but I wrote a letter asking for JA/JB to run on Monday and give them a luncheon in between. Kids could get back to school earlier if that were done, there would still be plenty of course walking time, and then the 1400 cap would not have such an impact.
I also wrote...
I think you carried speed well which I had trouble with on West - There's always "what if"s with weather like that, but just looking at West course GS, you would have had the 4th trophy with this run, and 5 civics would have made it into trophies too. Good driving, and good showing for the...
I did another event in the car yesterday.... I was up against 2 GTI drivers who beat me at the Summer National tour. I put a significant distance between us with the SI (as did another SI driver going to nationals), so I am sure I'm driving faster in this car, just not sure if it's fast enough...
I’d remove it at nationals - I think people will protest it because of contingency money that they want, not because they think it’s really giving you an advantage.
I have 255/40/17 Bridgestones. Another SI driver is running very high rear pressures and a stiffer bar setting so I think I'll stiffen the bar this weekend and see how that works.
My 1st impressions...
1st event yesterday at Fingerlakes where I've run over a second behind their best GS driver twice this year. In the SI I was 1/2 a second faster than him, and paxed 8th of 121 - so it was a good start. (To be fair to the FoST, it needs shocks this year.)
The SI turn in...
I just picked up an SI to replace my FoST. Last year was a poor showing in GS and I was worried that it was in trouble - I think the SI is changing that. GSL already made the class! Now I need to learn to drive the car. 1st event in it this weekend.
