Good point. I am still on my original OE rotors, however I had Hawk HPS pads on a previous car with brand new rotors and the noise was even worse and never went away. I thought these new 5.0 Street pads were supposed to at least solve the noise issue. Even my mechanic tried to talk me out of the...
I just installed Hawk Street 5.0 pads and feel like I completely wasted my money. The initial bite is great, the dust is less than stock, but they squeal like crazy. It's super loud and annoying. I can't wait to take them off!
Is there a pad that performs similar to sock, but with slightly less...
How is the initial bite with these pads?
I had them once on a different car and felt like the car had really poor stopping power when the brakes were cold and it only improved a little bit once they warmed up. Is it different on the FK8?
Really surprising that this happens with the 91 tune. I’ve seen a good bit of knock with the 93 tune which most people say to avoid long term but the 91 seemed pretty safe and not that much more power over stock.
how many miles are on your car now and how long was it flashed for? Any chance it...
I ended up finding the problem!
I took the Prl intercooler off to inspect the o-rings and found them to be correctly positioned and in good shape. I then reinstalled the intercooler, however this time I used a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to about 18ftlbs. This seems to have solved the...
I was able to complete my boost leak test. The main issue was that the compressor I was using was not powerful enough to fill the system. With a stronger compressor I was able to pressurize up to about 15 psi. Overall the pressure held fairly well and I didn’t hear any obvious leaks. I also used...
The car shuts off the fuel injectors when you take your foot off the gas. In those situations you will see a very lean AFR. Its normal.
Don't pay too much attention to short term fuel trim. Its allowed to make instant corrections. What you want to look at is Long term fuel trim. That its a...
No issue with idle or CEL. Just notice that the boost doesn't hit its target until around 5k, which is pretty slow spool for an FK8. The only aftermarket part would be a PRL intercooler, and those have had some known issues with blowing out the o-rings. Just don't want to tear everything apart...
Thanks for the reply. I actually found and followed your guide before I started. I did pinch off the two hoses properly and was still not able to build any significant pressure. Perhaps the small tire pump I am trying to use just can't move enough air to pressurize the system?
I also purchased...
I guess there is something wrong on my end as I can't get the system to pressurize at all. Maybe I don't have those two hoses pinched off well enough?
I'm glad to see that this can in fact be done with a small air pump.
