Springs are just really simple and straightforward. No real second guessing.
Some coilovers don't come with suspension error cancellers or ADS modules. Then height adjustability, rebound, compression, spring rates, etc, it can get a bit overwhelming if you don't know what you are looking for.
OEM clutch is a hit or miss, some people had good luck with it, others not so much.
Ensure those coilovers have camber plates, youāll need some front camber (and some rear) to really get that front grip.
I wouldnāt place wheels and tires as a cosmetic option. Itās a huge improvement on grip and feel, and pairs really well with a rear sway bar.
I personally donāt think the clutch upgrade is that important so early on. I used to canyon carve on a TSP Stage 1 tune on MAP 2 and never had issues...
Do those BR Series coilovers come with camber plates on both front and back?
Iād try something like -1.5 front and -1 rear to start for a mix of daily and autocross duty.
I used to canyon carve before I started doing autocross. IMO, depending on the roads, you'll never use a tune to its highest potential in the canyons. With that said, I used TSP Stage 1 on MAP 2 and it was fun. Definitely helped pull the car out of the corners.
Highly recommend the springs and...
Yep, I was putting down really good times on practice day. Unfortunately, I swapped wheels when I got home on practice day and drove to the event on the 200TW's. Really should not have deviated from the summer tire set up when the weather conditions were the same.
Looking forward to sunny...
200TW / 340TW split set up was not the move in the rain. Was feeling really good on 340TW (summers) all round during practice and decided to try the split set up for comp day. Driving felt.... off. Fronts couldn't cut through water that well and the rear didn't want to rotate. I think I...
I went taller tire only because I'm banging rev limiter in 2nd gear every run for 1-2 seconds and needed that extra mph. Heard good things about V730's in dry. May or may not snag V730's or RT660's as a practice pair.
Recommend to bring the sprayer (unless it's raining), as you never know if...
ECT can fluctuate depending on ambient temperatures. I've personally seen anywhere from 176F to 205F.
IAT1 and IAT2 also fluctuate depending on ambient temperatures. Hot days mean higher IAT temps, even for cold air intakes and upgraded intercoolers.
K.Cont again, fluctuates but 0.49 is...
Nice! If your tire has super stiff sidewalls, 45 aspect ratio on 17ās works well for autocross. I run a 245/45 on 17x9 fronts only.
What tire do you use / plan to use for auto cross?
I was in the same boat as you, which is why I went with Whiteline. -0.8 is a mild drop but does wonders on the eyes.
Depending on the set up, you might rub a bit on hard dips. I recommend to pull the strut pins.
Iām on Whitelines. Originally was going to go Swift but with the fitment / set up I wanted, Iād be rubbing crazy.
No reported issues with the Whitelines after 4 events.
OP, I did the flap way to swap out the CAI air filter (couldnāt get any recharge oil / cleaning kit at the time). Itās very easy and straightforward. You can follow PRLās Cobra CAI install guide to get the flap pulled out like the picture. Took me maybe 20 minutes total.
Very nice.
The ALK discussion has been brought up here before. Still no hard answer if it's legal to run in STH. I talked to a guy in STH two events ago and he said they aren't legal to run.
Ahhh gotcha.
I had these Whiteline adjustable ball joints installed in December 2023. No issues and I daily them. I also autocross in them about 2-3 times a month. Been great.
They have the same / similar design as the SPC ones, so eventually you might run into what @Chris_19Si has experienced...
These are OE replacements so you wouldn't get much front camber out of it. Hardrace does have camber adjustable ones but look like the Whiteline's or SPC adjustables.
