Can't speak for anyone else, but with a non-turbo CVT I don't think people are used to the linear acceleration of the car. So maybe it feels like the tortoise and the hare for them and they don't like it. I don't get people trying to pass me if I try to accelerate the way that a normal geared...
Just for information's sake - I reached out to Precision Auto Canada for a ktuner for the 2.0L EX CVT.
As of 06/14/18, cost to ship to Toronto is ($580 CAD + tax) + shipping ($23 CAD) = $667 CAD. Estimated 3-5 weeks delivery.
Pretty sure that the recall that you're referencing was for a potential issue only, feel free to post a source showing that a single inspected 2.0l engine was identified with faulty/missing piston snap rings and I'll retract that statement.
Not sure what you turbo dudes have against us NA ilk...
If memory serves me right Honda didn't find any instances in the 2.0l recall where the piston snap rings were improperly installed. But here we have hundreds of people reporting actual evidence of fuel dilution..... ?
Just to add my two cents. Since it's moisture we're talking about I would look to minimize as much water content inside the car. For me, tracking small amounts of snow on my shoes and having it accumulate in the rubber tray contributed significantly to fogged windows and finally frost on the...
Not to be paranoid but now might be a good time to get a dashcam with an external battery and motion detection while the car is parked (relevant thread here).
That really sucks though. Hopefully it's the last time your coworker decides to be an asshat; but if it isn't, then at least next time...
I don't suppose you've looked at a PDR kit? I bought one on Amazon and did one of the dings myself (this one specifically https://goo.gl/6PYgsB).
It works fairly well and provides a partial peace of mind if let's say you're on your third or fourth door ding and are starting to find PDR getting...
Just spent my Saturday at a Target in Cheektowaga. Also there's a really good donut place on S Elmwood Ave just south of Edward St called Fry Baby Donuts... damn! Almost worth the drive from Toronto just for that.
Just to point out, my car was part of the 2.0 NA piston snap ring recall, and to my knowledge it was a preventative recall - i.e., Honda didn't find any such cases in North America after completing their inspections. So not to toot Honda's horn or anything but I think their engines are and will...
I don't really know the brand, but I was thinking about these too and read this:
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/lighting-h-i-d-s-neon/511186-do-not-buy-ijdmtoy-review-warning.html
So caveat emptor, I guess.
I've already got close to 38000km on mine since Jan 2016. At this rate I'll be trading in my EX for a cardboard box with wheels. (Mind you it'll be a fancy cardboard box.)
One other thing to consider is that most modifications to the Civic seem to be focused on the 1.5T, with the argument that for x amount of money to increase x hp in the 2.0 N/A, you might as well get the turbo model since the power is already there. The CVT for the 2.0 N/A is also apparently...
CivicsClass not sure if you were referencing my post but I was referring to the engine filter.
FYI, Amazon also sells cabin air filters: FRAM CF11182 (Canadian link); FRAM CF11182 (US link)
I was in the same situation too. I solved this by shaking the housing as per the suggestion here. I shook the thing pretty hard so I don't think you need to worry about breaking it.
