Other way to test is to press brake while your accelerating - will make it easier to tell if its slipping. Looks like slight slip like I experience as well. However I have seen this slip with stock tune!
Nope never see traction control light go on ever. I dont push my car that hard. Literally it happens as Im accelerating onto freeway in 3rd or 4th gear. RPMs jump up out of synch with speed of car. I suspect some people who dont know how to detect slipping clutch dont even notice. I caught...
Im a 56 year old guy (not boi racer thrashing my car - if anything you will find us guys who race on track dont race on street) who commutes in rush hour traffic and I dont beat on the car. Test drive of the new SI that was different car was me with my wife and sales guy in the car and I...
No insult taken just indicating I have experience to know what a slipping clutch is in a vehicle. I don't believe I'm in miniority either. To see this in two new 2017 Si I have driven isn't a coincidence. Also seeing reports of this from other forum members in cars with very low mileage...
Would think if I drove stock car off showroom with 1 mile on odometer for test drive and was accelerating onto freeway during test drive with clutch slipping that this is a warranty issue. Just want to see how many others are experiencing this problem. If enough of us complain Honda should do...
....Let me see. I have been driving and racing manual trans cars for 30 years. Multiple Hondas, multiple nissans, several Porsches , Mazdas and an Audi or two. I indicated slip happening in higher gears under power, not while shifting. Not slipping during shift but when in same gear under...
I agree the car is awesome at 7 to 8 tenths in flowing features. However go over that threshold and it dynamically falls flat and stock tune just sucks. I had same feeling as you. Its like where did drive train go I left it back at corner? Im back in my XP beast now. Installing turbo on...
In all honesty I drive this car on twisty bumpy mountain roads and I have real hard time in feeling any appreciable difference. Not like other cars with adaptive dampers. For me there is absolutely no reason to just put it on sport and keep it there. Wasted feature in my opinion.
Do these little motors really flow well enough to support your targets without using crazy amounts of boost? Im just skeptical that these little 1.5's with stock heads will flow a big blower properly without creating mucho heat by increasing boost. I still have doubts that these little motors...
Curious how many are seeing clutch slipping in your Si's . My car has just started to have slipping clutch when its warming up - 5 to 10 minutes. Usually slips in higher gears when under full power.
I drove a different 2017 Si on my test drive and noticed clutch slipping on that car. I test...
Hate to say it but I can't stand stock tune so I'm going to run car in fun class locally. That throttle lag is just stupid. Loaded hondata + 6 psi tune and I'm not going back. Going to spend my time developing XP Cayman S. Just ordered turbo for it! Lol! But will follow you guys...
Funny I had direct opposite impression of brakes and power on the Si. I feel like they are too powerful and Im used to driving a Porsche ax car with big ceramic brakes with 4 piston calipers with 335 rear A7 and 295 front. Dang Honda Si just clamps down hard but then Im not one to over brake in...
Might just be me but much over 250 Hp from a 1.5 seems like recipe for disaster. Im mean sure 300 hp is possible but for how long? I suspect heat from a motor that is using so much boost will be sort of crazy too. Perhaps upgraded radiator and external oil cooler for kits as well?
Guess it depends on what you are looking for out of a car. If you are not an enthusiast, want a smoother ride and cant be bothered to shift an EX-T would be great car. I personally wouldn't touch a CVT optioned car.
