OP the CTR is a huge difference compared the dsm 1g chassis. I have had several over the years. Even got one down into a 10.6 quarter mile here at altitude !
Great cars but not exactly well built compared to the honda fk8 chassis.
World of difference for sure ! I sometimes miss the awd...
What do you guys/gals run while at the autocross / time attack events ?
I seemed to have really good luck with it in sport mode and vsc partially disabled i didn't do very well with it all the way off.
I'm currently completely stock - stock wheels/tires as well.
Wondering what works best...
Very well said. Thank you. I love honda and wish this problem could be fixed. I'm not going to the local autocross this weekend because of this issue. Sure i could keep grinding 2nd gear and eventually have my transmission replaced but i would rather that honda step up and put out a tsb for this...
sorry but this is flat out a garbage response. Honda has a problem with this trans - shifting hard from 1st to 2nd - my car grinds every time. Confirmed with service advisor driving and tech driving. Both of them said currently honda has no tsb or fix out. They wanted to change the fluid with...
Yup ! i didn't buy a "fasted fwd" blah blah blah - sporty car to have 2nd gear grinding issues, overheating issues on the track, etc.
Honda simply dropped the ball on the transmission issue. If they don't fix it i will be dumping this car asap !
If i can't go to an autocross/track/time...
Has anyone replaced the stock master cylinder with the modified master cylinder ? Per this guy's video it will fix all of our issues...sounds like a crock of you know what...
"19 February, 2019 - Honda has today announced it will restructure its global manufacturing network. This restructure comes as Honda accelerates its commitment to electrified cars, in response to the unprecedented changes in the global automotive industry. The significant challenges of...
Yup ! Shift knob is not going to change chit 2nd gear syncronizers....
So after autocross this weekend and me grinding into 2nd every single damn time with this car i'm really not happy with this vehicle. However the other guy in the 19 type r had zero 2nd gear grinds...
He drove my 18 and...
so i brought my type r in for it's for first service at 5k, had 2 2nd gear grinds over the weekend. The service advisor said he has had 5-6 type r's - all of them have had issues with the transmission grind in 2nd gear. He recommended amsoil and a weighted shift knob. I recommended him to not...
FYI I just went on a very spirited drive ( on a nice windy mountain road ) yesterday and i'm happy to report zero gear grinds. She is completely 100 % stock, stock trans gear oil as well. I'm right at 5000 miles on odo. Maybe it just needed to work itself out ? Dunno ? Sure seems to drive great...
yup it's snowing today here in colorado. Type R sits in the garage while the truck with snows comes out for the commute. Not worth the risk IMHO to put snow tires on the the ctr...road salt, crap drivers with bald tires is not something i want to risk with a brandy new car !
Just had another 2nd gear grind on my lunch break. This is the 3-4th time 2nd gear grind. I'm going to take into the dealership this week. Pretty unhappy about it. Have plans to race the car next couple weeks for autocross and time attack. Not sure i want to now...lame.
It's honestly not a smart thing to drive this car with stock tires in freezing temps. I just do it because i refuse to buy snow tires since i have a dedicated snow rig and rarely drive it in cold weather. Morning commute with freezing temps i just take it really really easy. If it's snow or ice...
Nope that is not me but i've also seen this car. He/She must work in that area as i've seen it recently about 1-2 a month in that area - always parked on colorado and florida - ish...i believe
Not that i'm aware of. I have seen 1 at a local cars and coffee event. I unfortunately was not in the type r however(it was blue). I never saw the owner in the hour or so that i was there. My wife even stayed around the type r to see if the owner would stop by - no luck haha. oh well. I'm going...
I drove my car to work the last 2 days here (i'm also in denver) It was below freezing in the morning and i just took it easy. It has limited traction but as long as you are not getting on it and trying to set a best lap time (which you should never do anyway) on your way to work i think it's...
