I know the feeling. My car from high school, a 1988 Civic hatchback, I drove for 18 years and then sold to a friend. It had faded paint and a worn original clutch but I maintained it super well. He ended up repainting it, fitting it with JDM bumpers, wheels, suspension and generally made it...
If you have a helper to pump the brakes, then just the catch bottle and doing it the traditional way is effective and cheapest.
If you don't have a helper, another solution that works well is using Speed Bleeders or some equivalent, which are one-way valves built into bleeder screws. I don't...
I'm no expert, but I thought modern ac compressors were variable displacement and could increase and decrease how much refrigerant they output as needed. That would mean they stay engaged all the time, unlike older systems. Could it be that?
Welcome to the club. My condenser was replaced under the extended warranty program. Then a year later my evaporator failed and that was a $2000 repair. :(
My local dealer in San Diego is charging $7,500 markup plus $2,685 in mandatory accessories. At that price, I would rather pay markup on an FL5 since the FL5 has more track nerd features that appeal to me.
Ooh, very interesting. So the next thing which we need to verify is whether the clutch is fully engaged and isn’t slipping. If you watch that driver, he rides the clutch very frequently. He’s always using the pedal as his foot rest. That would also affect the engine rpm and speed relationship.
I think we need a lot more than internet speculation before we can be sure. The two main things he's saying are:
1. The car has more boost
2. 6th gear is different
I don't know enough about how tightly boost pressures are regulated by the ECU and how much they're allowed to spike or vary from...
My 1997 Integra Type R came with no a/c, and I never did have it installed. I went to all the desert SoCal tracks like Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, and also Las Vegas in the middle of summer. It saved about 35 lbs but just as importantly, since there is no condenser blocking the radiator, the...
True, but I bet if it were actually faster with softer dampers, Honda would have softened them. It's just some parameters in the software, after all. They probably chose the settings they did for a reason.
Yeah, my first thoughts are:
No data-dense dash display like the FL5. I would really want the detailed coolant and oil temperatures and pressures. If it turns out the new cooling system is really rock solid, then I could go without the data but right now there's not yet enough reports on summer...
Time to sell your car. It's surely going to throw a rod, all the wrist pins will shatter, and a piston will no doubt land on your head while you're driving.
Hey guys, I'm asking this for a friend with a Civic Hatchback EX. During some rainstorms, there was a leak in a rubber grommet and the interior got soaked and then moldy. She needs to replace the carpeting which is a complete part we can order. However, in this photo, there is another felt pad...
@dsm_mikey , once you get a chance to track your FL5 hard in stock form, please do come back and update us on how it went. The cooling situation will greatly influence whether I bother to update to the FL5.
I have a feeling the glass is inside the AC ducting where the evaporator is. You would need to remove the dash to get to everything. Over time the glass particles will become less and and less and that might be better than taking the dash out.
Here's my reasoning on why the heat will be nearly the same:
1. All the heat generated by the engine comes from burning gasoline. Whether it's the direct heat from combustion or the friction within the engine.
2. The efficiency of the engine turning combustion into mechanical work will be the...
